Barack Obama's presidential campaign has been rocked over the bad publicity Obama is getting over his perceived snub of wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
ABC News reports Obama staffers staged three separate briefings in just forty-five minutes on O-Force One as they flew from Berlin to Paris today.
Yesterday, the Obama campaign put out two conflicting reasons for canceling the visit. One blamed the Pentagon, the other said Obama chose not to visit over concerns the stop would be seen as political.
The Pentagon has responded to reporters queries saying that Obama was welcome to visit as a senator and would be able to bring a senate staffer with him, but no campaign staff (or media).
While Obama spokemen Robert Gibbs and retired Air Force Maj. General Scott Gration are spinning on the record, NBC News' Andrea Mitchell was reporting that Democrats are spreading rumors that John McCain's staff colluded with the Pentagon to scuttle the visit.
Obama's campaign has long recognized that his weakness is the perception of Obama as soft on the military and weak on patriotism. His week-long trip foreign trip was designed to showcase Obama's stature and ability to operate as commander-in-chief.
His snub of the wounded and his campaign's confused and malicious response shows that they believe his image in the minds of the voters back home has been gravely wounded.
“His snub of the wounded and his campaign’s confused and malicious response shows that they believe his image in the minds of the voters back home has been gravely wounded.”
Not gravely enough for my taste. I would prefer the word Fatally wounded.
Obambi, you’re no George Patton and you’re not even George C. Scott!!!
He was going to lay his hands on the wounded. News at 11.
I think the more on the spot hes placed, the more hes going to fumble verbally.
No Grace Under Pressure from the “messiah”. Wimps know nothing about Grace Under Pressure.
That’s another stark difference between Obama and President Bush.
President Bush visited Walter Reed Hospital to meet wounded soldiers many times WITHOUT any notice to the press corp.
Please don’t tell me he’s complaining because of poor press coverage!
Make the ‘Ah..Ah..Force One.’
I just left a message for a Lt. Col. at the Pentagon press office to whom they directed me. I will try to get to the bottom of the rumors that McCain colluded with the Pentagon. That nonsense needs to be cleared up immediately.
Obama's innate contempt for the military and for the truth are on full display here - at least for anyone who follows the blogs...
The Global Candidate with the big "Zero" logo.
These guys are sweating.
My guess is they cancelled because Gen. Gration was not allowed to accompany Obama to visit the wounded and would be stuck at the passenger lounge at Ramstein with the rest of the campaign staff and press.
He pitched a fit and Obama thought he could get away with canceling to assuage Gen. Gration's ego because the stop hadn't been announced to the press yet.
O Force One
Is that Zero Force One?
No its O-FARCE ONE..
A farce being.....mere show, absurdity,ludicrous,droll,ridiculous,
ect.
Obama forgot!
He was too busy basting his ego.
I think it’s simpler — Americans hate a show-off. Game, set, match.
I like the way this was couched as Democrats spreading rumors. They are trying to cover up their mistake by lying about it, leaving the impression that McCain did it to them. This is the same McCain that they're trying to paint as too old and out of touch. It's the same reaction as with the "idiot Bush that keeps outsmarting them" storyline the Democrats used to push.
This definitely needs to be exposed as Democrat lies to deflect attention away from their own snub of the military.

Unfortunately that email is an “urban legend”. You can look it up in snopes.com. This kind of email goes around every election. Here is the direct link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/afghanistan.asp
But the troop snub in Germany may very well stick.
How about Obama Farce One or O-Farce One????
