Barack Obama's presidential campaign has been rocked over the bad publicity Obama is getting over his perceived snub of wounded troops at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany.
ABC News reports Obama staffers staged three separate briefings in just forty-five minutes on O-Force One as they flew from Berlin to Paris today.
Yesterday, the Obama campaign put out two conflicting reasons for canceling the visit. One blamed the Pentagon, the other said Obama chose not to visit over concerns the stop would be seen as political.
The Pentagon has responded to reporters queries saying that Obama was welcome to visit as a senator and would be able to bring a senate staffer with him, but no campaign staff (or media).
While Obama spokemen Robert Gibbs and retired Air Force Maj. General Scott Gration are spinning on the record, NBC News' Andrea Mitchell was reporting that Democrats are spreading rumors that John McCain's staff colluded with the Pentagon to scuttle the visit.
Obama's campaign has long recognized that his weakness is the perception of Obama as soft on the military and weak on patriotism. His week-long trip foreign trip was designed to showcase Obama's stature and ability to operate as commander-in-chief.
His snub of the wounded and his campaign's confused and malicious response shows that they believe his image in the minds of the voters back home has been gravely wounded.

DoD spokesman says Obama camp was reminded of political rules

Chief Pentagon spokesman Geoff Morrell confirmed to Politico that Department of Defense officials cautioned Barack Obama’s campaign that his planned visit to wounded American troops in Germany could not be political in nature and that he would be barred from bringing along campaign staff and reporters. He also said that Cindy McCain recently requested to visit sailors aboard the U.S.N.S. Comfort and was denied.
“Sen. Obama is welcome to visit Landstuhl or any military hospital in his official capacity as a United States senator,” Morrell said in a brief interview. “But there is a DoD policy which governs campaigning and electioneering at military facilities that would have to be respected if he were to visit. That distinction was relayed and made clear to campaign, and they made a decision on their own based on that guidance.”
Morrell, in a subsequent interview, added that military officials told Obama he could only visit the military facility with his Secret Service detail and Senate staff.
“We made it clear to him that campaign staff and press would not be permitted to accompany him,” Morrell said of Obama. “We relayed those ground rules. They made a choice based upon the information we relayed to them. It was their choice. We had nothing to do with it.”

After all, by opposing the war--he has NOT in the past supported,,,,and does NOT now support the mission they are on!!!!
Is that ZERO-Force One?
I was wondering why this article was so well written, then I realized: You wrote it, not the MSM.
O-Force One.. ROFLMAO ROFLMAO ROFLMAO
I think mockery is the best way to handle someone with an Obama-size ego.
“the one” has how many hundreds of advisers and not a single one thought of visiting the wounded soldiers?
He should turn the plane around and go back and see them.
Has Obama ever visited the wounded stateside? You don’t have to go all the way to Germany to find injured soldiers to visit. President Bush and John McCain have been to see the wounded numerous times, with no fanfare.
But this fellow seems to have no idea what the right thing to do is. His handlers don’t either. Again, he demonstrates his manifest unfitness to be President of the United States.
Yeah, that's the ticket, the Pentagon, Yes. It is the Pentagon's fault!!
Sounds like they hired John Lovitz as their spokesman.
“I think the more on the spot hes placed, the more hes going to fumble verbally. “
Hussein O has been an affirmative action beneficiary his whole life. He is not up to the task and will of course crumble eventually. Hopefully before he gets to the WH.
My wife is from Paris and watching French news last night she said this was not going over too well there, "and then he goes to a monument to a victory over the French and then goes to Paris? thats dumb"
“I think the more on the spot hes placed, the more hes going to fumble verbally. Then we may hear more honesty than hed admit to otherwise.”
Well, that’s a huge part of it. And I don’t think McCain is all that unwise lurking in the shadows, either.
John McCain is no orator. He’s not going to blow anyone away with his eloquence, incitefulness, or his charm. I think he’s kind of pulling the same low-key campaigning he used in the Republican primaries—just hoping to swoop in and steal the prize at the last minute from over-exposure and weariness of his competition. I don’t know if that’s the intended strategy or not, but having McCain making grand speeches like these of Obama would be a bad idea.
ROFLMAO!!!! When he takes his jacket off it's political...the arrogance of this guy knows no bounds. He's beginning to make Bubba look like a choirboy.
O-Force One? Oh brother................Another freeper (can't remember who) called it "Air Farce One".
agree...slow and steady...tortoise and the hare....
Thank goodness Obamassiah and his homeys aren't THAT SMART!!
