Obama's speech today in Berlin, hailed as a "major" address, has at least one major, glaring error that shows that nether Obama nor his handlers and speech writers were thoroughly familiar with the facts. Obama's main theme was about the "walls" that separate all of us one from another. He claims that many of these "walls" have been taken down and hails that as progress. But in at least one instance he is wrong. In fact more walls have been built where Obama claimed they were taken down.
First the relevant section of Obama's misconception (my bold for emphasis):
The walls between old allies on either side of the Atlantic cannot stand. The walls between the countries with the most and those with the least cannot stand. The walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew cannot stand. These now are the walls we must tear down.
We know they have fallen before. After centuries of strife, the people of Europe have formed a Union of promise and prosperity. Here, at the base of a column built to mark victory in war, we meet in the center of a Europe at peace. Not only have walls come down in Berlin, but they have come down in Belfast, where Protestant and Catholic found a way to live together; in the Balkans, where our Atlantic alliance ended wars and brought savage war criminals to justice; and in South Africa, where the struggle of a courageous people defeated apartheid.

Obama claims that the walls built to separate Protestant from Catholic have come down in Belfast. Well, in fact, they have not. In reality MORE ARE BEING BUILT all the time.
As a May 5th USA Today story chronicles, "Ten years after peace was declared in Northern Ireland, one might have expected that Belfast's barriers would be torn down by now. But reality, as usual, is far messier. Not one has been dismantled. Instead they've grown in both size and number."

I refuse. I will not believe that this nation will elect him. He only won the primaries by default. He built up a lead before any real facts came out. There are simply too many in this country that will not stand by while this dolt gets into the White House.
Oh, they were Muslims. Completely orthodox Muslims.
That's the problem with Islam. A moderate Muslim has no theological basis for stopping or even debating a fellow believer who wants to kill infidels. It's a death cult.
One of the Fox News radio clips from Berlin featured a woman who said that she liked Obama because he understands Islam. She had absolutely no German accent.....
“I hope so, because as much as I loathe McCain, the Obamanation would be a disaster for our country.”
I still have some hope. A neighbor of mine is an older “typical white woman”. She said she’d have voted for Hillary! but would NEVER vote Obama. She also said most of her friends wouldn’t vote Obama, she told me older folks are going to save us from Obama. I hope she’s right.
I also hope the “Bradley effect” comes into play.
McCain isn’t perfect, but there is a HUGE difference. McCain, whether you agree with his policies or not, loves America. Obama does not.
The only thing that bothers me is he acts like he is the one that did it. Nothing has been done or thought of prior to his arrival.
"It's definitely not safe to take it down, and I don't think it ever will be. There's bitter loyalists over there," Quinn said, using a term for anti-Catholic militants. "They're out drinking in the street at night. If you take it down, they'd have easy access here and come over starting fights. You'd just be asking for trouble." The wall 30 paces from her front door was born in 1969 as makeshift coils of barbed wire laid by British troops, shipped in following riots that forced hundreds of families, mostly Catholics, from their homes
Obama could say the sun is made out of jello and it wouldn’t stop the media from fawning all over him.
They’ve made their choice. Obama will be President as far as they’re concened, gaffes or not.
Of course not. His holiness master Hussein was merely projection his all seeing vision into the future back here to the present so we can hope, change, blah blah... Gotta keep those legs tingling ya know.
After hearing a few best of collections of his holiness master Hussein examples of completely idiotic statements two thoughts come to mind.
One: His high holiness master Hussein is dumb as a brick. An alleged quality education at some of the best schools has been wasted on this guy.
Two: His high holiness master Hussein is a puppet hanging from some very long strings. The key points of his campaign are nothing but a pathway to absolute communism for the United States.
I would really like to know just who is holding the other ends of the strings.
Ridiculous.
He will become the world's biggest joke long before November. The media worship is already starting to backfire. He is suffering from overexposure already and he hasn't even been formally nominated.
The Times of London published an article mocking him for his being treated like the Second Coming.
He is getting rock star treatment but has a slight problem. HE CAN'T PLAY MUSIC!
In other words, there is nothing there...THERE!
He is another Paris Hilton...famous for being famous.
The Knack - My messiah
Ooh my little pretty one, pretty one.
When you gonna give me some time, messiah?
Ooh you make my motor run, my motor run.
Gun it comin’ off the line messiah
Never gonna stop, give it up.
Such a dirty mind. Always get it up for the touch
of the younger kind. My my my i yi woo. M M M My messiah...
“He is getting rock star treatment but has a slight problem. HE CAN’T PLAY MUSIC! “
Clearly I hope you’re right. However, don’t underestimate the power of the media. That formula worked for the Monkees.
Do you really want to argue that there has not been political unification in Ulster?
McCain, whether you agree with his policies or not, loves America.
Do you really want to argue there isn’t antipathey between Catholics and Protestants in Belfast? Even the walls won’t come down.
And yet there are a great many who know full well what he is and love him because of it. There was a thread the other day on how Obama was "energizing" the homeless. As you might expect he was not "energizing" them to get a job or work for a living - oh no, that isn't what they want. He was energizing the parasite class to vote for him because they know full well that he will buy their votes with the plunder seized from hard working taxpayers. The welfare scum and those who think like they do know him and love him.
“He will become the world’s biggest joke long before November. The media worship is already starting to backfire. He is suffering from overexposure already and he hasn’t even been formally nominated.”
I tend to agree with you...When the media starts the full-blown “are we all racists” pieces to explain his declining popularity (among the already heavily skewed polls) as a last ditch effort to boost his numbers, you’ll know that your suspicions have been confirmed. Either that, or the nomination of Hillary Clinton.
“Stop telling yourself a fairy tale about McCain.”
Ok, so you’ve told me you lack the ability to be pragmatic. Great. Don’t vote, and when Obama is president, tell me what you think of McCain then.
BTW, even though I disagree with McCain’s stance on immigration, I understand it. The availability of cheap labor, and an influx of workers to naturalize and support the social security ponzi scheme is very tempting to those in Congress.
The fact that you doubt McCain’s love of country tells me something about you. What have YOU done for America?
It’s “conservatives” like you who will cost us all dearly.
Things in Northern Ireland are better than they have sometimes been. However, there are influential factions with a vested interest in continuing conflict. One would think Osama would recognize this concept, since he’s part of the faction with an interest in fomented continued racial strife in the United States.
I've wondered about the demographic of the crowd in Berlin, was it actually 200,000?
Michael Savage characterized them as Turkish Muslim immigrants to Germany. Is there any truth to that? I don't know.
But some conservatives want to take their ball and go home in nov “to teach the rinos a lesson” bend over for 4 years worse than Carter.
