Media: The gaffes Barack Obama has committed would have crushed the typical Republican politician. But the reporters who can't get over Dan Quayle's misspelling of "potato" have little to say about their man's slip-ups.
Consider his claim during a news conference Wednesday in Israel that "just this past week, we passed out of the U.S. Senate Banking Committee, which is my committee, a bill to call for divestment from Iran."
His committee? Obama isn't even a member of the Banking Committee, let alone its chairman. So was it a self-promoting lie or a misstep? Only he knows.
In other cases, however, it's clear the junior senator from Illinois has erred. It was Obama and not a too-old-to-serve John McCain or a too-dopey-to-take-serious George W. Bush who once said he'd visited 57 states, not including Alaska and Hawaii, and still had "one left to go."
It was also Obama who said Tuesday from Amman, Jordan: "You know, it's always a bad practice to say 'always' or 'never' " a statement only Yogi Berra could fathom but which those aboard O-Force One seemed to regard as incontestably profound.
While the media have ensured that Obama's communication skills are now widely viewed to be impeccable, it's obvious that when the man doesn't have a teleprompter in front of him, he tends to mangle both facts and language.
How else to explain his "Face The Nation" comment that the leaders he would meet in the Middle East and Europe are the ones "who I expect to be dealing with over the next eight to 10 years"?

Yep, "Old Number 57" would be a living testament to the benefits brought to us by Public Education, as brought to us by the NEA. If only he'd actually been brought up in America, that is.
The MSM will willingly sink America in order to try to prove its point that it is relevant. Obambi is a media creation, and he was created just so the MSM could show it could manufacture something out of whole cloth and get it elected president, all just to show that it is still a major player on the American scene. The MSM is just that vain and arrogant.
Let’s not forget, it is:
“57 states and one more to go....”
This guy is Verbal Gold, a veritable cornucopia of Gaffes, Mistatements and “Heated Rhetoric” blunders...
You're right; my mistake.
“...57+1=Idiot...”
LOL!
He has no uncle, and it was the Russians that liberated Auschwitz.
Since Obama has only been to the Senate a couple of times, you can’t really expect him to know which committees he serves on, can you?
Maybe his uncle was there when the bomb fell on Pearl Harbor, who then became the President of Canada.
Along with his “Real Good” comment, I think that we have found ourselves some real piece of entertainment that the Democrats nominated.
Of course Obama is so intelligent and articulate and such a know-it-all while Bush is a bumpkin. That there tells you all about Media Bias.
Well after all, for someone who said the oceans would recede and the planet would heal, it would be a snap to have an uncle as President of Canada too. </sarcasm>
“Boy this crack cocaine really hits the spot”. - Paraphrased version of what I’m sure he’s said in the past, possibly recently.
A shining product of modern universities.
With that statement I am still convinced that he made up his policy positions by playing Final Fantasy for the Nintendo Entertainment System. “The Earth will heal(just by the USA doing stuff?), the waters will recede(just by less belching of CO2, plant food? So tell me, Obama, how will saving the endangered tree frog help this process?) and I am going to show all people to the promised land”.
I still think of that statement with that nutcase whenever I think about his complete control freak mentality. Perhaps the Memorial Day “Undead” in the audience will follow Obama to a new utopia.
