Citizen Of The World Rips America (Rush: Obama's Speech Deserves A BARF Warning Alert)
Rush Limbaugh.com ^ | 7/24/2008 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 07/24/2008 4:16:16 PM PDT by goldstategop

RUSH: Cookie is working on a couple of audio sound bites and Drive-By Media reaction to the Messiah's speech in Germany. I have an idea what she's going to send. I never know what she's going to send unless I specifically asked for it. But Cookie is so good I seldom have to ask for it. I get what I want anyway. Now, one thing about this speech. I'll wait until we get the bites and see if what I'm expecting in these, citizen of the world stuff. When he started talking about that, that's when the red flags went up. And one of the things about this citizen of the world stuff, I understand what he means by it. You know, we've all got to come together and get along and all of this, but I tell you, I'm growing weary of Democrats and their presidential candidates finding something wrong with being an American citizen. Or maybe not finding something wrong with it but wanting to deemphasize American citizenship. He can go over there to the Victory Tower all he wants and talk about how the world came together to rebuild Europe, but it didn't happen that way. The United States rebuilt Europe. The Germans and the Europeans aren't doing much to help Africa. It's the United States doing that. By the way, there's not much to show for it for a host of reasons having nothing to do with our aid.

Then Obama says we have to remake our world again. What an arrogant thing to say. We, meaning he, under his leadership, we have to remake our world again. How arrogant. You mean like in Iraq, Obama, a place you would have abandoned in defeat? Is that what you mean by remaking the world? You mean after you're going to lower the sea level, Obama? Is that what you mean by remaking the world? Here is a guy who could not figure out how to quell the violence in Iraq. He thinks raising capital gains taxes raises revenue. He thinks drilling and increasing supplies will not reduce oil prices and yet he's going to take the lead in remaking the world.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

We must remake our world again. Yes, Obama, after 143 days in the United States Senate and a couple of years engaging in voter fraud registration for ACORN, tell us, sir, just where is your experience to remake the world? How are you going to remake China? How are you going to remake Iran? How are you going to remake Russia? How are you going to remake Cuba? How are you going to remake Venezuela? How are you going to remake Sudan? How are you going to remake Somalia? How are you going to remake Congo? How are you going to remake France? How are you going to remake Spain? How are you going to remake Pakistan? How are you going to remake Kazakhstan? How are you going to remake Mongolia? The arrogance of this is literally staggering.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let's review some of the speech via audio sound bite. This is the one that, of all of this stuff -- and it's hard to pinpoint one but -- this grates on me.

OBAMA: I come to Berlin as so many of my countrymen have come before. Although tonight I speak to you not as a candidate for president but as a citizen, a proud citizen of the United States and a fellow citizen of the world.

(German crowd cheering)

OBAMA: I know that I don't look like the Americans who have previously spoken in this great city.

(German crowd cheering) RUSH: How do we know that Colin Powell hadn't been there to make a speech? What is this business that he's not there as a candidate for president? He shows up, says "I'm not here as a candidate; I'm a citizen of the world," and then starts talking about how we need to remake the world. Grab audio sound bite number 30. I'm going to go out of order here. Here's what he says about remaking the world.

OBAMA: People of Berlin and people of the world, the scale of our challenge is great; the road ahead will be long, but I come before you to say that we are heirs to a struggle for freedom. We are a people of improbable hope, with an eye toward the future, with resolve in our heart. Let us remember this history and answer our destiny and remake the world once again.

RUSH: Okay. So he shows up not as a candidate but as a "citizen of the world." So he's a citizen of the world? That's it. He's just a guy taking a stroll, found a microphone, walked up to the podium, and makes a speech. Of course he's there as a candidate. He can't even be honest about that. He has to obfuscate that. And then let us unite and "remake the world once again," and so forth. Now, what about it needs to be remade and how's he going to do this? The Germans don't care a rat's rear end about remaking the world. We don't even allow them to have a military. The Germans are like a lot of other European countries, that Obama finds them more sophisticated than Americans. That takes me to the thing that irritates me greatly about this. This "citizen of the world stuff," I know what he means by it, but why isn't it good enough to say, "I'm a proud United States citizen coming to speak to you today," about whatever you want to say our challenges are?

Why do you have to deemphasize that you are an American? This whole concept of American exceptionalism. We rebuilt that place. I'm not saying you have to go over there and brag, but we're being told that the Europeans hate us, that the Europeans are; our stock in their eyes has plummeted. When it's not true. The Germans are some of our biggest allies in the world right now, along with the French. This is not 2003 or 2004. It's a new era. But why, even at that, why go over and pander? Why is it these people have so much trouble saying uplifting things about their own country? You don't have to brag to do it. But they find it difficult. They want to respond to what they think is the dislike or hatred or the negative image that they think the world has of us -- and I, frankly, don't think the world has nearly as negative an image of us as these people do in the Democrat Party. They're just projecting that because they have this negative image, the rest of the world must. Here is another example from Obama's speech.

OBAMA: Look at Berlin where Germans and Americans learn to work together and trust each other, less than three years after facing each other on the field of battle. Look at Berlin where the bullet holes in the buildings and the somber stones and pillars near the Brandenburg Gate insist that we never forget our common humanity. People in the world, look at Berlin; where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one.

(German crowd cheering)

RUSH: Now, what's wrong with this? I'm not trying to nitpick this, but the world didn't "stand as one." The world never has stood as one, and the world was not at one after World War II. And by the way, the Germans and Americans coming together learned to work together? The Germans surrendered! The Germans had no choice. The Germans, thanks to us, just like the Japanese, adopted a relatively democratic form of government. We imposed our will, however it was, for the good, because you do not impose freedom. Freedom is not an imposition. So, yeah, we work together in all these buildings and so forth. "A continent came together and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one"? The world, you might say, did unite against Germany. Germany was not standing at one with us when they were trying to defeat us and the Russians or the Italians. This is just, this is just psycho babble, feel-good rhetoric right out of conflict resolution class. I have time for one more before the break.

OBAMA: The fall of the Berlin wall brought new hope. But that very closeness has given rise to new dangers, dangers that cannot be contained within the borders of a country or by the distance of an ocean. Think about it. The terrorists of September 11th plotted in Hamburg and trained in Kandahar and Karachi before killing thousands from all over the globe on American soil. As we speak, cars in Boston and factories in Beijing are melting the ice caps in the Arctic, shrinking close lines in the Atlantic, and bringing drought to farms from Kansas to Kenya.

RUSH: Well, that's just not true. That is just out-and-out false. These are just lies. None of that is happening. Those things are predicted by climate change alarmists. None of these things are happening. Cars in Boston, factories in Beijing melting the ice caps? The ice caps are not melting, Obama. They are not melting. There's the same amount of ice there as there was 24 years ago. The coastlines in the Atlantic? Really? I live on a coastline. I live on a beach. My beach is as big today as it was 11 years ago when I moved there! The coastlines are not rising. I'm glad we're going to a break. I'm once again close to profanity. BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I have to be honest. I have to warn you, give you a barf alert here for the next series of bites, not just the excerpts from the speech by the Messiah but also we have a couple of reaction shots or bites from the Drive-Bys, the disciples who are over there soon to die of anal poisoning they're following Obama around so much. Let's just hit them in order. Here's the next one. You have been warned.

OBAMA: We acknowledge that there is no more powerful example than the one each of our nations projects to the world. Will we reject torture and stand for the rule of law? Will we welcome immigrants from other lands and shun discrimination against those who don't look like us or worship like we do and keep the promise of equality and opportunity for all of our people.

(German crowd cheering)

OBAMA: People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment. This is our time.

RUSH: All right. So Obama, he's gone now beyond the shores of the United States. He's not running for president here. This "citizen of the world" stuff. He's post-national now. He really is not -- he doesn't look at himself as -- an American citizen. He lives in America, likes the country, but he's a citizen of the world. And he has to go over to Germany, and I don't know about you, but I'm frosted. That last bite was Barack Obama ripping his own country. There is no other country around the world that's being ripped for torture, and there are places where it's actually happening. You want to talk about Cuba? You want to talk about China? You want to talk about in Russia?

Ever heard of Siberia? You want to talk about many of the Middle Eastern countries where Obama just was. Torture happens all over the place. It's part of Islam, for crying out loud if women do the wrong things! And there he is in Germany criticizing his own country. Not by name, but we all know. "Will we reject torture and stand for the rule of law?" He's in Germany, don't forget. I haven't heard that the Germans were torturing people. Have you? "Will we welcome immigrants from different lands?" Do the Germans have an immigration problem? Well, they do but I mean, it's the exact opposite. They're letting anybody in. So is the U.K. That's their problem: they are letting anybody in. He ripped his own country, here. He took shots at the United States of America while in Berlin speaking as a post-nationalist citizen of the world. He continued on that theme.

OBAMA: People of Berlin, people of the world, this is our moment. This is our time. I know my country has not perfected itself. (cheers) At times we struggle to keep the promise of liberty and equality for all of our people, we've made our share of mistakes, and there are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions.

RUSH: Okay. So now he has to go apologize for the United States of America. What is it? He's black, he's running for President of the United States, "We haven't perfected ourselves." You know, that's a key phrase, by the way, is one of the things that drives liberalism is the fact that they think people and institutions can be perfected. They think they can be perfect. And when nothing is perfect, then everything's wrong. But this is just beyond the pale. He's talking to Germans and making excuses for the United States of America, which to this day defends and protects Germany? (interruption) Exactly right. This is insulting. It is demeaning. "We have made our share of mistakes. There are times when our actions around the world have not lived up to our best intentions." This is Iraq. But he's not a candidate, folks. He's just a guy strolling through the forest there who happened to see a microphone and a podium.

He says, "Oh, there's about 100,000 people out there. I think I'll go make a speech." This is change. But ladies and gentlemen, if you are wondering when you hear Obama talk about change, this is it. The change is: America sucks, America's deficient, America's guilty, but America is now willing now to pay the price because we have a Messiah who understands the faults, the egregious errors made by the United States and her people. We are racist, sexists, bigots, homophobes. We discriminate against people who worship differently than we do, have skin color different from ours, and we have not always behaved properly in the world. And we torture. And we, of course, are biased against people who want to get into our country illegally. We have a lot to pay for. Not to mention that we are primarily the country responsible for climate change, shrinking the Atlantic coastline, melting the Arctic ice. This is the change. You want change? This is the change. Now, I think he knew he was on some thin ice. So this was next. OBAMA: I also know how much I love America. I know that for more than two centuries we have strived at great cost and great sacrifice to form a more perfect union, to seek with other nations a more hopeful world.

RUSH: We have strived? We have strived? He has no concept of American exceptionalism. He has no concept of the true greatness of this country, nor what has caused it, what's behind it. Ignorant. Now, the barf alert continues. We have two audio sound bites from the Drive-By disciples following the Messiah. Here first is Andrea Mitchell of the National Barack Channel.

MITCHELL: The soaring rhetoric, lofty hopes, addressing a crowd that German officials say is more than 100,000 strong. Presumptive Democratic nominee Barack Obama, echoing Ronald Reagan as well as others who have spoken here, said that the walls that now must come down, must be torn down are the walls between races and tribes; natives and immigrants; Christian and Muslim and Jew, and that the walls between these people cannot stand.

RUSH: Channeling or "echoing" Ronald Reagan? pimping and distorting Ronald Reagan would be more like it. Here's news week's Richard Wolffe also speaking on the National Barack Channel.

WOLFFE: We've seen him going through these with leaders and press conferences. But clearly what he's accomplished is that image: the giant crowd between the Victory Column and the Brandenburg Gate and a crowd waving American flags. I mean, when you contrast that with what we've seen with President Bush, generating business crowds protesting against his big presence, protesting against the war; that's really the image he is trying to project to Americans saying, "You can vote for me and I will unite the world, be a popular president," something obviously that has been very unusual over the last seven years.

RUSH: I told you, I warned you people. I warned you people, barf alert. So now we've got a Brit journalist, at least a Brit-accent journalist: Yeah, Bush draws big crowds but they are to protest the world, but here's Obama proving he can unite the world.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Bill in Morgantown, West Virginia, you are up. Hello.

CALLER: Mr. Rush, it's such an honor to be speaking with the Maha Rushie.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: You know, I wonder if Obama is going to be using this as his experience, you know, with speaking with foreign leaders because up to this point, he has absolutely no experience in that area whatsoever. This is something that our president definitely needs some kind of experience. Maybe this -- in my opinion -- maybe this will give him experience for the next election maybe if he continues this, but, sir, I don't think that this year's going to be enough experience for him to prove to the American people that he can deal with the extreme problems that are going on in the world today.

RUSH: You misunderstand the point. There aren't any severe problems because Obama will solve them. He's the Messiah. We're going to remake the world and unite the world with change. There aren't any problems as long as we elect Obama.

CALLER: Would Obama accept the fact that we don't need change, we need dollars to buy a gallon of gas now?

RUSH: No, no, no, no, that's minuscule. In fact, Obama doesn't care what your gasoline -- if you remember, he is not upset about the price. He's just upset about how quickly it increased.

CALLER: Oh, yeah.

RUSH: Remember that?

CALLER: I remember that. You know, sir, if I could say just one more thing before I let you get on with this wonderful, wonderful show of yours.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: If I could ask Obama to put on a uniform while he's over there and get down in the trenches with our boys that are over there fighting and actually get some military experience.

RUSH: There won't be any need for the military. See, you are still not getting it. Messiahs don't have armies. They don't have divisions. They don't need them. There won't be a need for armies. He won't have to know the military because there won't be any military, anywhere. I don't think people quite understand here what's going to happen. Obama's going to get elected, he's going to get inaugurated and the world's going to lay down their arms. Everybody's going to destroy their nukes after we do ours, everybody's going to get rid of their AK-47s after we get rid of ours. These things, the world was going to follow the example of the Messiah. That's what he wants people to think. Now, I know this sounds very strange but there are people living in this country who are alive today who are prepared to believe that. Many of them make up Obama's supporters even as we speak.

America is the world's most perfect country! I have literally no idea what Obama is talking about here. What's this about America's imperfections? Liberals think America is not good enough for them as she is right now. That's Obama's message. Its disrespectful to our country and the arrogance of it is... I just want to spew profanities here but the mod would ban me! I just have had it!

President of the World? I wondered a lot about the crowd:
Major Garrett first reported “thousands, maybe 10’s of thousands” but never “100’s of thousands” let alone, “two hundred thousand” as an estimate. They looked mostly very young. Also, more women than men? Remember, the Bolsheviks used women and old men to “dress” their parades/barricades/marches; had to- all the men were off fighting the Germans.

Someone ought to do an analysis of that Obama crowd, if that’s possible. Might lead to some interesting things.

Moral equivalence as I said! Global warming is non-existent and poses no real threat to America. Islamofascism and Al Qaeda does but the interesting thing is Obama mentioned neither in his speech!

I’d like to remake Germany. I’d like to leave them all sitting on piles of stones and starving to death.

The MSM/DriveBys will make gushing comparisons of Obama with JFK and Ronald Reagan. That's invalid. He isn't summoning a call to arms to fight the greatest danger of our age. As an appeaser, he's quite incapable of it.

we are heirs to a struggle for freedom

He may be in a struggle, but I am not. I admit that life is a full-time job; but it's not a struggle. Struggle is a quintessentially communist word, like worker or proletariat.

Except for the people of Iraq. Obama's party couldn't see fit to find itself on their side as they fought for their freedom!

Boy, all the citizens of the world are going to freak when Obama loses. This will be better than when George W won re-election. Will there be rioting on the streets of Berlin?

I found that part extremely offensive, also.

Obama is a charlatan, but a very very dangerous one.

The scene, the setting, the crowds—all very reminiscent of Hitler. “Tomorrow, the World.”

Good call. Also, “people” as in “People of the World, look at (”to” would have been classier) Berlin”. “The masses” is another hallmark of comspeech.

Silly globalist utopianism.

OBAMA:" Look at Berlin where Germans and Americans learn to work together and trust each other, less than three years after facing each other on the field of battle. Look at Berlin where the bullet holes in the buildings and the somber stones and pillars near the Brandenburg Gate insist that we never forget our common humanity. People in the world, look at Berlin; where a wall came down, a continent came together, and history proved that there is no challenge too great for a world that stands as one."

What do they all have in common? Obama had NOTHING to do with any of those accomplishments. Not a thing. Liberals did just about everything they could think of to prevent Reagan and the conservatives from defeating Soviet Communism which brought the Berlin Wall down. If we had followed the kind of liberal policies Obama advocates there would still be a wall, guard towers, razor wire, guard dogs, and Soviet tanks aimed at the West.

True enough! And no liberal - Obama included - will ever acknowledge Ronald Reagan was right! They hate him even more than they hate Bush.

Obama tells America how screwed up she is and we need him to set things right? Hell no! I love America the way she is and things would be wonderful if liberals weren't constantly trying to tear down everything that has made our nation great!

Where Rush and most of you make your mistake is looking at Obama from your perspective and making nasty/funny/sarcastic comments. That blinds you from seeing how voters without your bias are reacting. This overseas trip, including the speech in Germany, is making good press for him and strengthening his campaign. That’s the truth and snide remarks won’t change that even if it makes you feel better now. Evaluating your enemy’s actions relating to the group that matters, is smart. Verbally dumping on the enemy because you hate him won’t win the war.

McCain’s attempts to belittle Obama’s trip isn’t working. He’d be better off to shut up about it instead of bringing attention to it and, instead, make speeches about his qualifications and what he would do about important issues of the country. He always sounds like he’s in a “snit” about what Obama is doing. He’ll keep doing that until he (McCain) loses.

Certainly I don’t like Obama, but he’s likely to win since his campaign is about him and not McCain. McCain’s campaign is about Obama, not him.
