(CNSNews.com) House Majority Leader Rep. Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) told CNSNews.com on Wednesday that homosexuals should be allowed to serve openly in the U.S. military.
Homosexual conduct is currently prohibited by the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) and is cause for removal from the service.
Under the Dont Ask, Dont Tell policy instituted by President Clinton in 1993, however, the military does not ask recruits if they are homosexual, and homosexuals may serve as long as they do not talk their orientation or engage in conduct prohibited by the UCMJ.
According to a February 2005 study by the Government Accountability Office, 9,488 people were removed from the military between 1994 and 2003 because of homosexual conduct.

Ping!
of course he does. anything to sissifie our country.
Of course they support it. Democrats used to have standards, but not any longer.
Now they will vote for anything, say anything if it will keep them in power and turn the US into a steaming heap of waste.
What does the UCMJ say about heterosexual conduct in the "open"? Is this one of those "half the facts" quotes? He's a dem, so assuming half the facts are in evidence may be too generous..
look for great diffulty getting and keeping enlistees.
Just one more weapon in the arsenal of the left to weaken and undermine this country. They hate America deeply, judging from their unceasing untiring efforts to weaken or hamstring us.
I predict this will be a major campaign issue.
Like it or not, the policy and the laws are gonna be reexamined.
If it’s overturned by a heavily controled DEM Congress, all of those who are going to excecise their constitutional right NOT to vote will bear part of the responsibility.
(But don’t try to convince THEM of that.)
In other news, the sun rose in the eastern sky this morning and is likely to set in the western sky tonight.
I don't think Hoyer supports legalizing sexual harassment. Currently, homosexuals are dismissed from service for revealing, even indirectly, their orientation. The same restrictions do not apply to heterosexuals.
I know here in Israel gays serve in the armed forces and we've had no problems that I'm aware of.
Larry Sinclair is relieved to hear that.
Why is it when a Dem is running for President, this is always the first thing he wants to do. Stealing from Clinton again.

Imagine the sound, 1000 phallic soothers being used at once. That should strike fear deep into the hearts of our enemies!
I REFUSE TO LET MY TAX DOLLARS PAY FOR TREATMENT AND DISABILITY PAYMENTS FOR AIDS. THIS IS WHAT IT WILL COME DOWN TO. AIDS WILL BECOME A SERVICE-RELATED DISABILITY!!!!!
The October 11, 1949 Department of Defense memorandum on the subject should be restored.
If it rises to the level of conduct unbecoming under Art 133 or service-discrediting under Art 134, it could be punishable, but I don’t recall ever having seen one of those, unless it was adulterous as well.
