Tuesday, July 22, 2008

If they expected us to retire quietly from the scene, the political elite are in for a surprise.

Today I am making some very big announcements.

First, from August 31 to September 2 in Minneapolis, we will host a handful of events that will shake the political establishment. Everything will culminate on Tuesday with the official launch of the Campaign for Liberty at the Rally for the Republic.

The Campaign for Liberty will be the largest organization for peace, freedom, the Constitution, and sound money in American history. It will launch in grand fashion with lots of special guests and - if the early television and print inquiries we've received are any indication - plenty of media attention.

I would like to personally invite you and your family to join me and thousands of others in Minneapolis for these events and send a message to the Republican Party.

Tickets will go on sale for the Rally for the Republic this Friday, July 25 @ 10AM CST. We want this to be an unforgettable day, so we are holding a ticket bomb all day Friday in the tradition of our famous money bombs. How many seats can we sell on the first day?

In patriotic fashion all tickets will cost $17.76, so you can afford to bring the whole family.

This leads me to the second big announcement. After measuring the excitement and enthusiasm, we decided that the Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota was just too small to hold you. Therefore, we are making a significant upgrade. The Rally for the Republic will now take place at the Target Center, the largest arena in Minneapolis!

This promises to be the most spirited and provocative political event of the year! We held some very large rallies during the presidential campaign, but I have never attempted anything of this scale before. Its success rests entirely in your hands. Later this week I will announce two internationally renowned musicians as headliners for the Rally for the Republic. We'll also be joined by rock star Aimee Allen, NBC's Tucker Carlson, Barry Goldwater Jr., Gov. Gary Johnson, conservative stalwart Grover Norquist, former Reagan deputy Attorney General Bruce Fein, presidential historian Doug Wead, MTV's Adam Curry, musician Mark Scibilia, and Frank Sinatra impersonator Rick Ellis. Other special guests will be announced soon.

My staff has been working overtime to provide you with three full days of entertainment. Please visit the schedule page of the website and read all about upcoming events. We also have a lodging page to help you find accommodations in Minneapolis.

Together we are taking back our government and restoring the republic. Please join me in Minneapolis to kickoff the Campaign for Liberty and support our Revolution. Can I count on you to be there?

In Liberty,

Ron Paul

P.S. I know that you have done so much already, but with both major party nominees threatening to lead us into bankruptcy at home and more wars abroad, the success of the Rally for the Republic and the launch of the Campaign for Liberty is crucial. Please do what you can to be in Minneapolis August 31 - September 2 and send a loud and clear message of freedom, peace, and prosperity. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Pol. Adv. Paid for by Committee to Re-Elect Ron Paul --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ron Paul is a freakin’ nut, blaming America for 9/11

Someone earlier in this thread made a similar claim; that Ron Paul is a 9/11 truther. I told him that this was a flat out lie and that if he wanted to make such a claim that some proof should be provided. No answer.

Now, do you have any proof of this or is this just another case of someone making a false claim about Paul's positions in order to make him look bad?

Funny how many people here mercilessly bash Paul for one reason: that he is opposed to our being in Iraq when he has stated many times that a big reason for his opposition is that it was all done without a Congressional declaration of war as the Constitution calls for (but we did find time to seek approval from the UN).

It's mind-numbing stupidity to nominate McCain who has been the Democrat's bestest friend over the past 8 years and all of a sudden "rally" behind him. Seriously, if McCain doesn't pick a decent VP I'm leaving the presidential box blank and voting down-ticket.

McCain was not my 1st, 2nd or even 3rd choice. And he is STILL light-years better than Obama.

There you go again, I succinctly explained that Paul's supporters are not part of the regular makeup of voters and that the only reason they're participating is because of Paul. Now if you want McCain to earn these votes I suggest he get his campaign in gear and start talking about the real issues killing this country instead of the same-old BS we hear every four years. You should also stop denigrating these people - it makes no sense to trash the very people that you need their votes for.

And you should stop filching Ronald Reagan's line. He never would have pulled a stunt like this when he was edged out by Ford in 1976. First you say these people wouldn't vote for McCain anyway, then you suggest they should be courted. All the while running a sideshow in St. Paul that will finally give Paul the spotlight he craves. The party and the country be damned. We got 8 years of the Clintons thanks to Perot pulling this style of nonsense and now Paul wants to reprise it. NO SALE.

Do you think that an Islamist terrorist might attack Christians or Hindus for nothing more than holding a non-Islamic woship service? Or is that far-fetched?

Ron Paul is a freakin’ nut, blaming America for 9/11...

He gave the reason for the terrorists attacking. That doesn't mean blame.

Unless you would "blame" Christians for worshipping if it happened to tick off some homicidal Muslims who attacked them.

The biggest phony in American politics.

Most others at least give you an idea of their leanings.

Paul claims to be this huge financial conservative, but in reality he stuffs the budget with pork for his district.

The Ron Paul supporters I know are none of the above, myself included. Besides foreign policy I’m not entirely sure why most in the GOP HATE him so much. As for getting people into the political process, he really got me to think about certain issues and I became much more involved than I ever have before.

As far as “electing Obama”, I was never going to vote for McCain anyway, nor would many other of Paul’s supporters. Besides, I live in California which will go to Obama whether I vote for McCain, Paul, Obama, or Mickey Mouse.

Paul claims to be this huge financial conservative, but in reality he stuffs the budget with pork for his district.

WRONG.

He does NOT push for spending. He pushes for his district to receive money back from the federal budget--if his district doesn't get it, it doesn't just lower the budget, but it goes elsewhere.

If a family votes on what to do with the summer, and one member wants to save money and not take a vacation, should he have no say in where they go if he's out-voted?!?

I’m not entirely sure why most in the GOP HATE him so much

He interferes with the move to the left...toward State power. His promotion of liberty suppors holding them accountable. He supports America, not quid-pro-quo multinational corporate board arrangements.

Do you think the Democrats would like a leader who encouraged blacks to stop just being sheeple and voting for the same old lies? Well, the GOP establishment wants conservatives who are easily riled by fear, but docile--simply opening their wallets and casting blind GOP votes.

And funny thing...the same people who would be scared to death of interlopers taking over America are supporting the way the GOP has been subverted from its earlier position.

Here is the Ron Paul game.

He puts every piece of Pork he can in the budget. He finesses them through committee and through the opening votes. He works hard again and again to keep them in.

He even votes for them in the final budget bill that goes to the Senate.

Of course, when it comes back from the Senate it has a few changes, so a Conference Committee works out the small differences then sends the bills back for one more ceremonial vote,

It passes about 420-1, with a few abstentions or absent Members. The one no vote in this meaningless vote is Paul's, so he can claim he voted against it.

Like I said, a complete phony

Yeah, Ron IS a nut. Remember what he said about 9/11 during a couple of the early debates. Something like, “What do you expect when America bullies it’s way around the world...that’s why we were attacked on 9/11”

...not a direct quote of course, but I remember him saying words to that effect....Face it people, our entire slate of candidates INCLUDING McCain lack any statesmanlike attributes...they are all deeply flawed.

We have but one Country to save and Ron Paul hasn’t got a chance in flying pig land. Obama is counting on splinter groups voting for Barr, Paul et al so he can move into 1600.

I'm sorry, but I have a really hard time feeling bad about the sensitivities of the tools who would attend a McCain convention being offended.

Pretty sad when you are a 'Republican' to the left of even Rudy.

I don't buy those graphs a bit. From my observation, most freepers will at least consider McCain if he goes with a good running mate, but would not have voted for Rudy under any circumstances. Enumerating one's political leanings is almost impossible and often misleading.
