Yeah, Ron IS a nut. Remember what he said about 9/11 during a couple of the early debates. Something like, “What do you expect when America bullies it’s way around the world...that’s why we were attacked on 9/11”
...not a direct quote of course, but I remember him saying words to that effect....Face it people, our entire slate of candidates INCLUDING McCain lack any statesmanlike attributes...they are all deeply flawed.
We have but one Country to save and Ron Paul hasn’t got a chance in flying pig land. Obama is counting on splinter groups voting for Barr, Paul et al so he can move into 1600.
It’s not inconceivable that a very small handful of extremists would be angry enough about America’s foreign policy that they would attack us. People around the world don’t see things the same way we do.
If an American air strike kills some poor uneducated Arab farmer’s son, and he is approached by Al Qaeda, the farmer doesn’t really care if the air strike was justified or not. He will want revenge and if shown enough about America’s involvement in the world, he can easily be radicalized into thinking America is the great evil empire trying to conquer the world. These people are taught to hate us and by being involved in their politics all the time it fuels much of their hatred.
Am I blaming America? No.
Am I blaming America’s foreign policy? To an extent yes.
There are other factors but to ignore our foreign policy just because it seems like it “blames America” would be ignorant.
Hell, you could make the case that someone who thinks Al Qaeda attacked us simply because we are free is blaming America because America is free (and if we weren’t free they wouldn’t attack us). It’s a stretch but it’s possible (btw NOT MY POSITION!!!).
