Obama’s Dress Code for Sweetie
According to Politico’s Carrie Budoff Brown, who is accompanying Obama on his trip to the Middle East and Europe, Obama’s campaign sent out a “dress code” that especially targeted female reporters as to the appropriate attire while traveling in Israel and Jordan.Obama press told to cover up, not wear green. No green. That is the color of Hamas. Also no nail polish, a limited amount of jewelry, covered shoulders and arms, closed-toed shoes, and stockings for women. (Do they make stockings anymore?) Women must also be prepared to cover their heads.

Obama’s campaign is showing a large amount of ignorance and idiocy. Not only with the ridiculous no-green rule, but also with the strict dress code for Israel. Israel is a modern, Westernized country and women are perfectly free to wear shorts and tank tops there. There are dress codes for the holy sites, but Obama’s campaign didn’t mention that at all - they’re making it sound like their rules are for the country in general. Either Obama is ignorant about what Israel is really like, or he’s fantasizing about Israel turning into a Muslim country.
Also, we don’t require Muslims, citizens or tourists, to take off their headscarves or turbans when they live in or visit the United States. Therefore, they have no right to demand that Western women dress like chattel when we go over there. I’m not saying American women should go to Muslim countries in shorts and tank tops - I think we should dress conservatively to avoid trouble - but long pants and a blouse should be fine. There’s no need for ridiculous mandatory-headscarf rules. And if we happen to show our ankles or forearms over there, they should be able to handle that without exploding (literally or figuratively). Do women with toned, muscular arms offend and threaten the fragile egos of Muslim men?
This is ridiculous. They are adults.
Rather extreme for Jordan and Israel. A college friend taught in Jordan for a couple years and had no need to be this insane.

Michelle Obama appeared on The View without pantyhose, which has co-dependent females wondering if they should keep wearing them or burn them, like other co-dependent idiots did their bras in the 70’s...so why does Obama wan;t stockings?? What type of garter does he demand? What type of stocking, woolen, silk, nylon, solid, mesh, what?? We women capable of sustaining a relationship want to know!

I agree. People dress in their traditional clothing here, and wear whatever they want. No one tells them what to wear and what not to wear. It’s a “global” thing unless you want to go into a more repressive society (which Israel is not, btw)- and anyone who goes to any religious shrine should dress respectfully, but eff wearing a burka or even not polishing fingernails. That’s BS.
Just like my dog laying down a respectful distance away when I’m eating steak, hoping to get on my good side so I’ll kick down. Good call.
