Obama’s Dress Code for Sweetie

According to Politico’s Carrie Budoff Brown, who is accompanying Obama on his trip to the Middle East and Europe, Obama’s campaign sent out a “dress code” that especially targeted female reporters as to the appropriate attire while traveling in Israel and Jordan.Obama press told to cover up, not wear green. No green. That is the color of Hamas. Also no nail polish, a limited amount of jewelry, covered shoulders and arms, closed-toed shoes, and stockings for women. (Do they make stockings anymore?) Women must also be prepared to cover their heads.

Politico article: Obama ban: What not to wear where?

“Shouldn’t they be getting their directives from their own bosses instead of him? “

Yes, and that is the point. Obama’s arrogance, thin skin, and willingness to dictate is troubling, very troubling.

You bet your bippy! And they still make corsets with garters for them. Or you can get a simple garter belt. Or an elaborate lacy one. And there are many styles of stockings. They also sell thigh-highs, that don't require a garter strap.

Kinda tough to ask them to respect our values and traditions without respecting theirs.

I don't care if they respect our values and traditions. I just expect them to do us no harm.

And you should hear what Europeans say about American tourists and the way they dress!

Honestly, I can agree that there are place you should be observant and respectful. I see people working today in obscene Tshirts, bare midriffs, I’ve seen more underwear than I care to, minis that leave nothing to the imagination. Even jeans to church! Hardly anyone dresses up or just dresses nicely these days (I’ve gone to weddings and looked at guests, wondering if they took a wrong turn on their way to a baseball game......)

Hummm...perhaps. But does the tiger change his stripes to respected the values and traditions of the antelope? Perhaps instead of a dress-code word should have passed along in OB's camp that, for a change, reporterettes should henceforth dress like ladies, and act like gentlemen.

Reminds me of the movie Mars Attacks and crowd control is holding up signs “No Doves”.

Obambites are ridiculous. Glad the press is getting sick of his arrogance.

The travel arrangements for the reporters are made by the campaigns. Since the campaigns are hiring the charter planes and providing close access to the candidate, they have the right to dictate the terms and conditions for reporters who make the trip, including a dress code. If the reporters don't like it, they can charter their own planes, or fly commercial, and stand in the crowd with everyone else, wearing their t-shirts and flip-flops.

I hope they keep Katie Couric covered up there and when she gets home. It'll do her good to have her realize women over there have been so oppressed that they can't flaunt their gams like she does....

Are you kidding? To her and all those other reporterettes, a box of donuts says they're getting kick out of this dress-code thing. It's Halloween in July. They get to play "3rd world women". Sort of like when all if us were kids and got dressed up (kind of) and played pirates, cowboys & indians, school teacher, superman...remember?

“”Even jeans to church!”

Is that in one of the Gospels or in the Apostle’s letters, I must have missed it.

Half my parish wears jeans to mass. Big whoop... we all pray the same... we dress up for weddings, baptisms and funerals.

Do you see any imams or oil princes telling muslims to shave and get the rag off their heads to be respectful to the majority of Americans when here? Heck, they might even pass that suggestion to their men...

Didn’t think so.

Maybe for a wedding in a church, Mt 22:11-14:

11 "But when the king came in to look over the dinner guests, he saw a man there who was not dressed in wedding clothes,
12 and he said to him, 'Friend, how did you come in here without wedding clothes?' And the man was speechless.
13 "Then the king said to the servants, 'Bind him hand and foot, and throw him into the outer darkness; in that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.'
14 "For many are called, but few are chosen."

Sorry, didn’t mean to offend anyone. I was just brought up to dress nicely to show respect when I am in His house. I was taught that appearance *does* matter, something that I’ve tried to teach my kids. After all He’s done for me, if I can’t be bothered to pull on a skirt instead of the jeans I wear to the grocery and out in the yard...well...I just prefer to wear something just a little nicer, that’s all.

What I find interesting is that Obama appears to have more concern and sensitivity for their values and customs than ours.

It’s a good question, the jeans in church thing.

If I am all dressed up, I am concerned that visitors, or even members who dress more casually, might feel like I am too good for them or something.

I used to wear a long skirt to church every Sunday. But a regular visitor started to come who always worse jeans. So I started to wear pants once in a while.

On the other hand, if church is the most important thing you do all week, should you not dress to reflect that? Or show up in your sweatsuit?

On the other hand, it is a day of rest, and worship, not a corporate meeting.

I don’t know.
