Sorry, didn’t mean to offend anyone. I was just brought up to dress nicely to show respect when I am in His house. I was taught that appearance *does* matter, something that I’ve tried to teach my kids. After all He’s done for me, if I can’t be bothered to pull on a skirt instead of the jeans I wear to the grocery and out in the yard...well...I just prefer to wear something just a little nicer, that’s all.

It’s a good question, the jeans in church thing.

If I am all dressed up, I am concerned that visitors, or even members who dress more casually, might feel like I am too good for them or something.

I used to wear a long skirt to church every Sunday. But a regular visitor started to come who always worse jeans. So I started to wear pants once in a while.

On the other hand, if church is the most important thing you do all week, should you not dress to reflect that? Or show up in your sweatsuit?

On the other hand, it is a day of rest, and worship, not a corporate meeting.

I don’t know.

I wasn’t offended by anything you said, just pointing out that my parish is much more casual out here in the west. It kind of surprised me too.

On the other hand, I’m quite offended by invading muslims demanding respect here, when they are content slashing throats of Christians in their own lands.
