CBS News chief foreign affairs correspondent Lara Logan, who just relocated to Washington DC, was the first correspondent to interview Barack Obama during his just-begun, but much talked-about overseas trip. The discussion happened today in Afghanistan and aired this morning on Face the Nation and on CBS Evening News.
Politico's Mike Allen reports, of the three network anchors covering the overseas trip Katie Couric will go first, interviewing Obama on Tuesday "in a country that the campaign does not want named for security reasons." Charles Gibson gets Obama on Wednesday, and Brian Williams will go Thursday. Allen writes, at least one publication is not represented on the Obama press plane:
Forty journalists, including such leading correspondents as Dan Balz of The Washington Post, will be aboard his plane for next week's swing through Jordan, Israel, Germany, France and England.
The campaign received 200 requests for press seats on the plane.
Among those for whom there was no room was Ryan Lizza, Washington correspondent of The New Yorker. The campaign, which was furious about the magazine's satirical cover this week, cited space constraints in turning him away.

You sure know how to draw hits to a thread... Headline writing is most of the battle in the information war.

The Drive-By Media, by definition, is incapable of impartial reporting.

Id love to hear the backstory behind Logan getting the interview. Probably not a family-friendly story.

Taken by whom?
"Logan is in a relationship with a federal contractor from Texas whom she met in Iraq and plans to marry.[8] She is pregnant with his child, due in January 2009.[8] As of July 2008, her divorce from her previous husband, Jason Siemon, a professional basketball player in the United Kingdom, is imminent.[3][8] Logan complained to Howard Kurtz of the Washington Post that her personal life had been "tabloid fodder."[8]" -- (Courtesy of Wikipedia)

Taken by whom? I don't know by whom, but I suspect the numbers are legion.

Is she the correspondent who has “democracy” and “peace” tattooed on her ankles ?
To: Eric in the Ozarks
If Logan's into tattoes, my suggestion for her next one...
