The falun gong is a very dangerous sect. They lie, exagerate and do everything in their power to gain public sympathy. I don’t believe much of anything they claim.
I did use the term “hit piece” and it reads as such. The Chinese version is fully put out as a small newspaper and combines what appears to be over a dozen articles from the past couple of months.
Most politicians out here hold them at arms lengths, just like they do the Scientologists and other fringe groups. Unfortunately, John Liu does take a lot of donations from the Chinese and has always been very quick to pop up at any Chinese embassy sponsored event and very slow to show up at Taiwanese events (he was born in Taiwan).
There is no question that the Chinese Embassy here is devoting considerable resources to tracking and interfering with dissidents on American soil. I visited Flushing just a couple of weeks ago, and the Commies had agitators posted outside the Falung Gong area; guys talking shit about Falung Gong and extolling the virtues of the Chinese regime. I read and speak Chinese and its gotten much worse.
Glad I moved out of Flushing.

I used to spend alot of time in Flushing, and thought I knew NYC very well. I had NO idea that FG was so active in said neighborhood. I've never seen them in Sunset Park (8th Avenue) either.

The FG are in Sunset Park as well. They have the epoch times in those free dispensers all along 8th. On the weekends they set up tables in front of Hong Kong Supermarket and hand out literature. Sometimes they approach a guilo like me and try to convince me how evil the PRC regime is. I take it in one ear and out the other. They remind me quite a lot of the other sect in sunset park, the Jehova’s witnesses, they must have studied their M.O..
Yes I have read about the indicident in Flushing. I really don't care what the FG *say* or *claim*. Unfortunately for me, I was in Hong Kong when they had a huge protest there at People's Park. Everything they do is well organized and scripted.
They get tossed in jail and then they all cry the same story. Just like the Prisoners at Gitmo all have the same story about being tortured and acting pitiful.
I saw how they were causing trouble with my own eyes. We got the heck out of there. It was a riot waiting to happen.

Where did that come from? I spoke about how dangerous the Falun Gong was, and now you attempt to portray that .. as a defense of the Chinese leadership??? Speaking about how dangerous that cult is, is by no means an endorsement of the Chinese government. Sheesh.
I have been to China many times and for extended periods. I have no illusions about how bad the ChiComs are .. or how bad the Falun Gong is.
I strongly recommend you educate yourself about the Falun Gong before you start defending them.
How many millions of people have the Falun Gong murdered?
Get back to me when that number tops 10 million. Then they'll be approximately 1/3 as dangerous as the ChiCom government.

I’ve seen many in Dallas area, where I live. I may disagree with their practice but in USA they have every right to protest and commies have no right to stop them in USA.
They also have a very large presence in Taiwan.
Maybe in Hong Kong is different, because HK is controlled by commies now.
