My daughter, who starts 4th grade this fall, told me that her camp bus driver routinely plays the radio during the ride, and that this song by female singer Katy Perry came on.
She said that the kids her age all know this song, but started yelling at the bus driver to turn it off because it was "inappropriate" for the younger kids on the bus to hear.
Yesterday, while driving with her in the car listening to her favorite radio station, the song came on and I heard it for the first time. The lyrics follow below, and you can watch the video here.
So if you're wondering what young kids are listening to these days, here it is:
I Kissed a Girl -- Katy Perry
It's not what, I'm used to
Just wanna try you on I
'm curious for you
Caught my attention
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
No, I don't even know your name
It doesn't matter
Your my experimental game
Just human nature
It's not what, good girls do
Not how they should behave
My head gets so confused
Hard to obey
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
Us girls we are so magical
Soft skin, red lips, so kissable
Hard to resist so touchable
Too good to deny it
Ain't no big deal, it's innocent
I kissed a girl and I liked it
The taste of her cherry chapstick
I kissed a girl just to try it
I hope my boyfriend don't mind it
It felt so wrong
It felt so right
Don't mean I'm in love tonight
I kissed a girl and I liked it
I liked it
The homosexual agenda at work. TV, movies, news, music, schools. It is all over. ‘Homosexuality is good, healthy and fun. Try it!’ That is the message given to our kids.
Behold the new slut dark haired Modonna. Lace gloves and all. Wonder when she will suck a coke bottle. LOL!
Cant wait for “I kissed a Doberman”
This thread is useless without Pics......lol
Modern pop culture has become one vast sewer.
This song has been around since 1995 but, you’re not alone in your opinion.

No pics, but you can check out the music video on the link I provided in the post.
It is? Well, I can assure you it's not as old as I am, because I sure never heard it before, and 9-year-olds aren't known for listening to golden oldies.
I was ready to come onto this thread and start cracking heads about being WAY too sensitive, until I read the lyrics a second time. At first pass, it looks like a song about an innocent kiss. Then I caught the lesbian theme. Ugh.
“She said that the kids her age all know this song, but started yelling at the bus driver to turn it off because it was “inappropriate” for the younger kids on the bus to hear.”
4th graders started yelling at the bus driver to turn it off because it wasn’t age appropriate? Pretty mature 4th graders I guess.
The one out now is a different song. Same title, different song and singer.
A lot of that is driven by the notion of “novelty” on the part of the music industry execs. They don’t know anything really, except that they have a better shot at big airplay numbers if they go just a little farther out on certain limbs. I say “certain limbs” because there are some they won’t even go near such as offending homosexuals or questioning so-called “abortion rights” or being suject to some islamic “fatwah” by daring to proffer any material that might somehow enrage them. They see themselves as being on the “cutting edge”, but only insofar as it is offensive to those who won’t retaliate. It’s pathetically funny if you think about it.
Well, as parents, I guess some of us do what we can. But I gotta tell ya, I am absolutely stunned by how much 9-year old girls know about sex (both heterosexual and homosexual) these days. (I imagine 9-year-old boys know it too, but since I only have a daughter, I don't have any direct experience with boys.)
It is on the charts now on an album released in 2008.
That’s much better!
