Dangerous Brady States
July 19, 2008 at 3:14 am ·
The lamestream media told you:
The Brady Center gun-control group has issued its list of the states with the best gun laws, and we give them prominent coverage of this each year without checking for accuracy, the net effect of their custom ratings, or what they consider the best gun laws to be. Were just finding truth and reporting it, since the Bradys did say what we said they said.
The Uninvited Ombudsman notes however that:
Barre Bollinger, a GeorgiaCarry.Org member, looked into the Brady Centers state ratings. (A score of 100 is Bradys highest possible score.)
I ran some numbers today on a sample of the Brady scores vs. the ten safest states in the Union. Brady scores are from their own site. Violent crime stats came from a U.S. Census Bureau 2004 report, and include number of murders, forcible rapes, robberies, and aggravated assaults per 100,000 population.
Not one of the ten safest states has a Brady score over 12 out of 100, with the scores ranging down as low as a 2! Safe states fail the Brady test miserably, or maybe, the Brady test identifies unsafe states, news reports didnt say.
The chart is available for your use, Brady Chart along with extensive commentaries. Bradys top-rated state is California (meaning its gun freedoms are the lowest), but California (at 552 violent crimes per 100,000) ranks number 41 in the top ten for most crime-ridden states.

Ping!
California, Brady rank 1, Violent crime rank 10
New Jersey, Brady rank 2, Violent crime rank 26
Connecticut, Brady rank 3, Violent crime rank 34
Mass., Brady rank 4, Violent crime rank 18
Maryland, Brady rank 5, Violent crime rank 3
New York, Brady rank 6, Violent crime rank 21
Rhode Island, Brady rank 7, Violent crime rank 40
Hawaii, Brady rank 8, Violent crime rank 39
Illinois, Brady rank 9, Violent crime rank 11
Pennsylvania, Brady rank 10, Violent crime rank 23
Even with iron clad statistics in front of them, liberals and the MSM will find a reason to make these numbers look wrong, or better yet, just outright lie about it. Or in the MSM case, not report them at all!

One of the many reasons I live in Texas is I get to defend myself, my neighbor, my property, my neighbor's property, and as long as I use at least a little common sense and good judgment I don't have to worry about gun-grabbing sob sisters trying to prosecute ME instead of the perps!
I really like my CZ PO1!!
Sounds like they are coming from the premise and world view that restrictions on gun ownership=safety.
Safest for criminals.

Says it all.
chirp... chirp... chirp...
Joy, turns out CT is the 3rd least safe state in the Union.
Thanks Governor Rell, where’s our Castle Doctrine?
I dunno
Stamford’s pretty good so far. I’ve been here since September 2004.
Helping Criminals Inc. publishes a list of safe states and dangerous states for criminals. The ratings are not intended to indicate which states are safe for the law-abiding.

If the Constitution is the supreme law of the land, and it says that it is, it can't be illegal to carry a gun. Especially not now that the Supremes have officially confirmed what we already knew and what the anti-gun people knew as well, namely that the 2nd Amendment protects an individual right to keep (own) and bear (carry) arms (guns).
Before FL enacted it's shall issue CW law in 1988 I carried a gun without a permit when I traveled on the road 60-70 thousand miles a year as my job required, or at any other time when I felt that I and my family needed it for protection. That included vacation trips to or through several areas of the US (including the D.C.) where privately owned guns are almost totally verboten by state or local jackbooted Fascist thugs.
I used a gun on two separate occasions to protect myself and defend my property without firing a shot and without the authorities ever knowing about it. The 1st time was to extricate myself from a confrontation with a gang of 5 or 6 teenage gangstas in Miami, and the 2nd time to scare off 2 would-be carjackers on a deserted road in AZ late one night.
I know that as a Christian I am commanded in scripture to obey the law. But as I said before, since the Constitution is the supreme law of the land it overrides all other laws, and I didn't think at the time that I was breaking the law by going about my business while armed. I still carry a gun whenever I believe that I might possibly need it. But since I now have a permit to carry that is honored by almost all the states that I am likely to travel to or through I can do so without being concerned about an arrest for breaking an unconstitutional law.
This Constitution, and the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof; and all Treaties made, or which shall be made, under the Authority of the United States, shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every State shall be bound thereby, any Thing in the Constitution or Laws of any State to the Contrary notwithstanding.
