Hagel Veep Stock Still Rising (As in Obama VP)
Action 3 News ^ | July 19, 2008

Omaha, NE - Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel's Vice-Presidential stock has jumped again.

Hagel's move up the ladder comes as he sets off for a Mid-East road trip with Barack Obama.

According to CBS News Hagel is now third in the Obama Veepstakes, behind Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius and Indiana Senator Evan Bayh. A week ago Hagel was fourth.

All this comes as several sources tell Action 3 News that Hagel's been snubbing the Nebraska's Republican Party.

Last week-end at the annual GOP State Convention in La Vista, Hagel was a no-show.

State Chairman Mark Quandahl says Hagel did not make a personal appearance, did not have a surrogate or substitute speaker, and didn't send a letter.

A spokesman for Hagel tells me two of Hagel's staff members were there.

All this of course as Hagel's name continues to make noise with the Obama campaign.

During his money making stop in Nebraska a few days ago, John McCain had plenty to say about his old friend Chuck Hagel, but not all of it was good such as Hagel's opposition to the war.

As McCain put it, "Senator Hagel is wrong."

As for Hagel's no show at the State convention Quandahl, tells Action 3 News, "It is what it is."

Quandahl also says that two months ago the Nebraska GOP told Hagel they wanted to honor him at the convention, but Hagel said he wouldn't be able to make it.

That was two months ago, about the same time Hagel's Democratic vice-presidential star began rising.

Isn’t Hagel an open borders guy too or is that Brownbeck?

please, please, please, please pick Chuck Hagel. Pretty Please with Sugar on Top!!!???!??!!

It would piss off the liberal wackadoos like almost nothing else AND it would be incredibly easy for us to make him look like an idiot (since he spent so much like being one when he pretended to be in the GOP).

You can’t discount the anti-militarism and anti-statism of the Germans and the anti-militarism of the Scandinavians but my people followed this emigration route and their pacificm was based on religion. They were there, to a man, for the various Indian Wars, the Revolution, 1812, the Civil War and WWII. They were not there for what they called “political wars”.

THEY SHOULD NOT VOTE FOR JOHN MCCAIN, for he, too, is not "the real deal" and is only a Republican in Name Only.

Maybe, but I don't want to have to say "President Obama" for the next four or eight years, either. So I'm voting for McCain.

Choosing Hagel would confirm McCain’s insanity. McCain has enough to do to overcome his own McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill for illegal aliens. Hagel supported it. Hagel was also vehemently opposed to the Iraq war while McCain supports it. Hagel is very unpopular in his home state after becoming a RINO. Worse, some RINOs command a following because they have some political skills but Hagel is a RINO WITHOUT ability. He’d be a better choice for Obama.

Ironically, Hagel is probably more conservative than McCain or even Bush, except for Iraq.

If Obama wins and something happens where Hagel becomes Pres, he’d be the most conservative since Reagan.

I agree, but this thread is about Hegel becoming OBAMA’s VP.

President McCain will be every bit disgusting as President Obama.

Sorry.

Fundamental value system differences. To each his own.

As far to the lefty as that fiendish little treasonist turdball has gone, he will not be Obama’s VP, and its silly for this article to pretend otherwise. Obama’s backers demand nothing but ideological perfection. I think someone mis-heard Obama comment that his soulmate was Hegel, the German philosopher who inspired Marx, Hitler, and the American Religious Left.

Identified him as a Democrat in sheep’s clothing years ago.

There were rumors of him running with Bloomberg on an independent ticket. Haven’t heard those in quite awhile and it looks like it won’t happen. If Hagel accepts a VP bid with Obama it confirms that we really have just one party in this country anymore. They have been melding together for years on ideas, yet the rhetoric is more heated. Big government is what we can expect, more government is what we can expect, and a more powerful government is a given. We have no choices. A democrat for President and a Republican for vice president (or vice versa for you Lieberman lovers) would secure a de facto single-party country.

I heard on the radio news breaks this morning precisely the opposite. He is with Obama and he is at the top of the choices. Unless this is a mere mind game that Hagel is allowing to happen, I tend to believe it based on the aspirations Hagel seems to have.

The 2006 Hagel-Martinez amnesty bill [S 2611] actually passed in the Rep controlled Senate.

Barry can spurn Hillary at his own risk. But to spurn Hillary for a member of the Republican Party, is something he ought to think twice about. Hell hath no fury like a woman who is head of her own crime family scorned.
