LoRo, a Freeper, has been very busy working as an intern for the Heritage Foundation. She was able to join us on a fairly regular basis last summer. A few weeks ago she did a little recon and saw that we were still out here keeping Code Pink pushed down the street away from the gate. So she sent out an email to all her associates and friends at Heritage and asked if anyone wanted to join her at Walter Reed on the 11th. We were fortunate that she received a great response. The Heritage kids brought a lot of enthusiasm. One guy in particular, Greg, I'd have to say almost...almost...gave VictoryNY some competition when it came to cheerleading and getting all the passing drivers to honk, wave, and show support to the troops. A couple of the Heritage kids went down the street to interview the Hatriots. I talked with Tony afterwards about his experience. He told me there was a fellow named Mike who claimed to be a Vietnam veteran. He told Tony that our troops are given orders by their commanders to commit atrocities. Mike should seriously consider running for Senator in Massachusetts. Tony has a blog of his own called Conservative Colloquium. He has not reported on his interview yet. Be sure to check it within the next week or so. [Mrs] Trooprally and PleaDeal out did themselves and took a ton of great pics. It was very difficult for me to reduce it down to the 14 I'm posting here. A good case can be made that I failed to pic out the best in the bunch. So be sure to check out their respective PhotoBucket Albums here and here
We got word around 10 oclock that the bus had not left the restaurant yet. Most of us decided to call it a night. Lurker Bill and few others stayed behind for another 15-20 minutes. Mr Trooprally told me the next day that the bus broke down on the way back. Volunteers in the POVs had to shuttle the patients and their families back to Walter Reed. Honor Roll: Freepers: BufordP, Fraxinus, Paltz, PleaDeal, TomTheRedHunter, [Mr and Mrs] Trooprally, VAFlagWaver, VictoryNY, USNRetired Plus: Lurker Bill, Bruce and Chris
If you can't get to D.C. to join us but would like to do something for the wounded, you can find a wealth of ideas by FReepmailing Tom the Redhunter, Cindy-True-Supporter, VAFlagwaver, or PleaDeal. Come join us every Friday night between the hours of 6:30pm to approx 9:30pm. Directions to our Walter Reed freep location from the Takoma metro station |

:-( about the bus breakdown.
Thanks for the AAR!
Great to see the Heritage Kids getting involved!
Okay, I saw all the pictures and I only have one question. Why were you playing in the traffic?
Great Report & Great FReep.. so good to always hear your reports
Thank you DC FReepers & Heritage “kids”
Thanks to all of you for being there week-after-week, for our wounded troops. Your support means a lot to them; keep the faith!
You did a good choice of pics. Thanks for your time posting and FReeping.

Why not?
Interesting layout.
HooRay for the Heritage interns!
When you coming back JVB? It’s not the same without your rich bass baritone!! Hope your foot is doing much better!!
Great report and pictures. This layout is so cool. Keep up the good work, Buford! Too bad about the bus. You guys are awesome and thanks for being there week after week. Our bravest heroes deserve the finest patriots supporting them!
I am doing better. Still have swelling in the foot.
I’m shooting to make the scene by 1 August. May have to bring a chair
Hey! What’s Mrs T scratching or is she just practicing her crane stance?
Now, Now, Now, you can’t make funnies like that until you are back out to WR, limping or not.
I suppose you are going to bring one of those high back wicker chairs so you look like KING JVB.

A long time ago I was a Heritage intern too. I would say that being there really changed the way I viewed many things...I grew up a heck of a lot those 6 months in DC. I am not involved with politics anymore, but I will always remember how the Heritage experience fine-tuned and changed for the better my own conservative ideology. I believe that donations to Heritage are tax-deductible and you can probably ear-mark money for the intern program. It’s one of the rare DC internships that is paid, so for kids that are broke and paying their own way through school, it makes the DC internship experience possible.
I’ve contributed a few times. Earmarking it for the interns is a good idea. I’ll remember that next time.
Great effort by all! CONGRATULATIONS!
Thank you for your wonderful pictures and blog post! I’ve forwarded this link to the other Heritage interns.
Congratulations on making 169 FReeps - great effort by all!!! We appreciate your enthusiasm and welcoming of our interns, and especially your consistent committment to supporting our soldiers. Best of luck on future FReeps!
