Archbishop of Canterbury: 'Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims'

Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims, the Archbishop of Canterbury said today.

Dr Rowan Williams also criticised Christiaity in history for its violence, harsh use of punishments, and its betrayal of its peaceful principles.

His acknowledgement of Christian faults came in a highly conciliatory letter to Islamic leaders calling for an alliance between the two faiths for 'the common good'.

It risked fresh controversy for the Archbishop in the wake of his pronouncement earlier this year that a place should be found for Islamic sharia law in the British legal system.

The Archbishop of Canterbury Dr Rowan Williams has admitted that Christian doctrine is offensive to muslims

The letter to prominent Muslim scholars comes at a time when Dr Williams is facing immense pressures from inside his own Church of England and Anglican Communion.

A gathering of Anglican bishops from around the world that begins tomorrow is on the brink of a devastating split over whether homosexuality and gay clergy should win their approval.

The Archbishop's letter is a reply to feelers to Christians put out by Islamic leaders from 43 countries last autumn.

In it, Dr Williams said that violence is incompatible with the beliefs of either faith and that, once that principle is accepted, both can work together against poverty and prejudice and to help the environment.

He also said that the Christian belief in the Trinity - that God is father, son and Holy Ghost at the same time - 'is difficult, sometimes offensive, to Muslims.'

Trinitarian doctrine conflicts with the Islamic view that there is just one all-powerful God.

People like this are the reason that Britain is no longer a predominately Christian nation. If the leader of your church is worried about the offensive nature of the Gospel, then he needs to be shown the door. The Apostles who founded the Church did not couch the Gospel in inoffensive terms to avoid martyrdom. They proclaimed it even though they knew they would be punished or even killed by the authorities. Get a clue, Rowan!

Kick this heretic and apostate out now. I don’t know what his true religion is, but it is light years away from Christianity.

“He told Muslim leaders that faith has no connection with political power or force, and that Christians have in the past betrayed this idea.”

-Oh really? If it weren’t for Political Power and Force, we’d all be Mythraism. Never heard of it? Understandable because if Constantine’s mother hadn’t converted the emperor to Christianity, Christianity would be about as well known as the Mithraic Rites.

Liberals are very good at using diversions and they get it from their Manifesto induced manuals on “how to run a communist cell”.

This is all a diversion to deflect away from the fact that the Anglican church is falling apart at the seams due to liberal secularism in the Anglican church.

Archbishop of Canterbury: 'Christian doctrine is offensive to Muslims'

So what's your point, Rowie? Christians find the Muslim doctrine offensive.

Obama would be more of a man than this theological fraud even after Jackson cut off his Obama’s testicles — and that ain’t saying much of the archbishop.

“...a highly conciliatory letter to Islamic leaders calling for an alliance between the two faiths for ‘the common good’”

In other news imams from around the world have agreed to an alliance providing they provide the dull knives and Christians provide the heads.

It is absolutely true that the Trinity is offensive to Muslims. So what?

To his credit the AB, at least in this article, doesn’t seem to be advocating that Christians abandon their dogma, just explain it better. Good luck.

“Understandable because if Constantine’s mother hadn’t converted the emperor to Christianity, Christianity would be about as well known as the Mithraic Rites.”

Not exactly true.

Jesus said that his gospel would be preached in every nation.

He said it because he knew it would happen.

If Dr Williams thinks that Islam can be placated by soft words and wringing hands he is sadly mistaken.

The Islamic death cult is about destroying all other religions in the name of Allah. It doesn’t care about ecumenism or what we would would understand by ordinary morality. It is a totalitarian political movement from the 7th Century and it means to remove all dissenting forms of thought.

Here’s a thought process that absolutely fries Muslims brain circuits:

If the Quran is indeed as it purports, the very words of God, would it not accurately represent what is taught in the Christian and Jewish Scriptures?

The answer is that it doesn’t, with the conclusion being that the Quran isn’t from God.

The Muslim’s usual response is that the Christian Scriptures have been tampered with and the Quran corrects them.

Idiot. Wahabbists are experts at declaring anyone they don't like a non-monophysite. Veneration of the saints is enough to declare Catholics and Orthodox apostate. Veneration of Ali is enough to declare Shiites apostate. Shoot, the Saudis declared the Hashemites non-monophysite because they built a shrine to Mohammad!

And you know darned good and well that Rowan would declare anyone saying the converse to be an islamophobe!
