Barry,

So, you found this satirical New Yorker cover art "tasteless and offensive."

Welcome to public life.

Guess what? In Washington, political cartoonists and caricaturists spare no one.

*Update* Chris at The Hot Joints reminds me of this truly disgusting cartoon run in the Obama-worshipping Rolling Stone magazine last month:

Here's a reminder of the crap Condi Rice has had to deal with over the years: . . .

LOL

Because Jesse Jackson wants to cut them off !!!!

just too funny for me to pass by...
I use to get the NEW YORKER just to enjoy the “art work”, as my son is an illustrator and some times his work would just make me chuckle out loud...I thought Obama and wife were quite comic, it fit their personality...

It looks like the illustration really touched a nerve with B. Hussein Obama. What’s he afraid of?
I’m pretty sure John McCain would laugh it off if they put him on the cover dressed as a flag burning islamic terrorist.
Apparently that just hits too close to home for Obama.

I’m not familiar with The New Yorker. Is it typically a Conservative mag or is it apolitical?

No, it's liberal, that's why he's so hurt!

Ah. So it's possible this is just a set-up.

Now whatever would make you think that? Just because New Yorker is a Leftie Rag, says it's a parody of all the Right Wing Nut Jobs, and Barack is.....

Outraged! Simply Outraged! Not to mention, a Victim!

Naaaaah, stop imagining such things!

The only other possibility is that the New Yorker has their nose up Hillary!'s ***.

Obama is such a wuss!

Seriously, this guy is such a punk-ass b*&^#@.

It's too bad that the late Lee Atwater isn't alive to run a 527 group to totally skewer this pompous crybaby.

"I'm not familiar with The New Yorker. Is it typically a Conservative mag or is it apolitical?"

For New York City it's about middle -- which means liberal for most normal folk. But it's got class. It is very literary, often tongue-in-cheek -- and I'd say famous for its cartoons (which is why this cover art of BO and MO is the center of such attention).

Decades ago, James Thurber used to write and cartoon there [On the other hand the noxious "drive-by" Seymour Hersh is one of the contributors there today.]

Real leftists have no sense of humor, so I think calling The New Yorker a "leftist rag" is a bit harsh. If I see it in a waiting room, I pick it up for its hallmark cartoons, if nothing else.

I was going to say......but Uncle Ralph beat me to it.

The New Yorker is avant garde, makes fun of everything in an intellectual way, has great cartoons throughout the spread. It also has devastatingly serious essays on current issues going from left to right. You can pick and choose. It ain't Time or News Weak, its editors actually have three digit IQs.

Obama had the perfect opportunity to make lemonade out of lemons by going along with the gag and getting in a good laugh.

The truth hurts, I guess.

Isn't it the truth. Dim Dems can dish it out, but they sure can't take it. Anyone remember the furious letter Harry Reid, and co., rushed off to the TV network that was going to air a certain movie detailing the run-up to 9/11? It seems satire is not the only thing that “offends” them. The truth has a pretty adverse effect as well.

Obama's not the first to be offended over a cartoon...

Great lyrics, as a matter of fact...

I was born my papas son,
When I hit the ground I was on the run.
I had one glad hand and the other behind.
You can have yours, just give me mine.
When the houd dog barkin in the black of the night,
Stick my hand in my pocket, everythings all right.

I just got paid today,
Got me a pocket full of change.
Said, black sheep, black, do you got some wool?
Yes, I do, man, my bag is full.
Its the root of evil and you know the rest
But its way ahead of whats second best.

It's a GREAT song, alrighty. ZZ Top has quite a few good ones.

That song ("Just got paid") was playin' on 92.5 FM KZPS ("Lone Star" radio, Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX) one day a short time back and all of a sudden, the concept for that pic popped into my head. Obama, the Candidate for CHANGE.

A day or two later, I found the pics to make that one up and put it together the next day.

The original edition didn't have Gibbons and Hill's comments, but I added them a day or two later.

Anywhoo ...

Gotta go look for my Cheap Sunglasses now. :)
