WASHINGTON, July 14 (Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, a Nevada Democrat, on Monday rejected a call by U.S. President George W. Bush to lift a moratorium on offshore oil drilling.
Bush announced on Monday that he lifted the executive branch's restriction on offshore exploration, saying only Congress stood in the way of opening up America's untapped oil riches.

The current Congressional Ban, which expires yearly, is up for a vote in Sept! IT WILL EXPIRE, IOW they have to bring it to a vote, even if Reid and Pelosi don't want to. They cannot shelf it like they have been the 20 or some odd number of Republican bills calling for drilling. They are going to be fit to be tied, because quite a number of Dems will oppose renewing the ban., just as they have supported drilling.

This is what infuriates me about the Repub’s. When we had control, the Dem's hammered us in front of the nation & rightfully said it was our fault. They won the election in a landslide.
Now, they're doing worse than we did, by a long shot, & what do we do? Virtually nothing! We have far greater issues of import such as oil etc., & yet we hear very little from our politicians. We have great ideas, we just don't know how to play the game. Pathetic really.

"Yah, but who says Bela Pelosi or Dingy Harry will even allow a vote on it?" No vote means that the offshore drilling ban expires at the end of September.

If they take no action at all, it expires. They have to either let it expire and do nothing, or have a vote to renew it. After shelving 20 some odd bills the Republicans put forward, some with the names of many dems, they “R”’s are not going to let them get away with not voting.

It has been their vision to have sky high gas prices for a long time to control people’s behavior and have them drive less and control where they can live rather than where they want to live. Of course, they will use the issue to try to demagogue to blame the Republicans, but they are clearly to blame for their policies and that has been their goal. They also do not want any alternatives to pop up as that would recreate the same problem.

You're forgetting how brain dead most voters are. Especially democrat/socialist voters. Amen. I reckon the RATS figure the dumbing down of America, which has been going on since the early 70s, has reached the point that they can take any position, no matter how outrageous, that their followers will just nod in agreement 'cause they don't know any better.
Eventually, the DDOs (Dumbed Down Ones) will become the majority and then we're in big trouble. IMHO, they're at about 40% right now and growing steadily.

Well, if America, Home of the Stupid, Dumb and Dummer, do not realize that it is the Marxists Dimocrats and their appeasement of the wacko environmental leftists and socialists of their party who want this, then I guess those Stupids deserve $4.00 plus per gallon.

The cluelessness of liberal fools never ceases to amaze me! How could they choose the ‘drill the acres you have leases for’ mantra without realizing that the Oil Company execs had already smacked them down with Maxine Waters’s threat to ‘take over the opil industry’. I guess the complete lack of comprehension for what capitalism IS leads them to step on thewir own jaws by opening their stupid maws to have their idiocy stuffed down their throats. OR perhaps the fools in liberal lalaland want the oil companies to drill where there isn’t oil, to give the democraps an excuse to call the oil companies as stupid as democraps like Maxine! Never gonna happen, fools

Believe it or not, I don't think Reid is as stupid as he sounds. Before he became minority leader, he was actually just left of center, a voting record not all that different from our resident RINO Arlen Specter. I think he's moving to the left to keep his job.

Reid is a malignancy. I agree, he’s not stupid thus his talking down to the democrat voters telling them that oil makes us sick, coal makes us sick, etc. is calculated to lie. Harry has not one twinge of guilt for being a professional liar. And sadly, the people who vote for such pukes actually like them that way, lying professionally.

I don’t think he’s actually retarded, but I do think he’s an anti-American far-left RAT traitor who wants to destroy America to remake it as a socialist country. The fact that traitors like this can actually be elected to congress disgusts me deeply.

Harry Reid is against Bush's plan for lifting ban on oil drilling? I'm shocked, absolutely shocked.
To: zencat
McCain needs to nut up and actually campaign for the job. Repubs need to explain about the 68 million acres because Donks keep repeating that mantra. If the oilco wanted to drill there they would have already.
