A case of mistaken identity left a Modesto man hospitalized in serious condition after a stabbing this morning in south Modesto, authorities reported.
The incident happened about 6:15 a.m. in the 900 block of west Whitmore Avenue. Four men, later identified by Modesto police as Norteño gang members, kicked in the victim's door while he was sleeping. The 33-year-old victim was kicked, punched and stabbed in the upper right side of his back and had a laceration across his left eyebrow, a police spokesman said. The four men then realized they had the wrong house and told the victim they were sorry. They fled in an older gray car with no windows.
The victim was taken to a Modesto hospital.
No further information was available.

Better than SWAT would do...
Yeah, SWAT would complain that you stocked a cheap brand of beer and lousy cold cuts. /sarc

Hollow points for every one of them.
Hemp rope.
It's environmentally friendly and reusable.

I was born and raised in Modesto. I leftt in 1977.
Things have change A LOT there. There was a time when such a crime would have resulted in a dragnet...apprehension...and total silence thereafter.
Once, criminal activity was not tolerated. Now, it's common.

Isn’t Modesto the hometown of George Lucas , and the place that inspired the movie American Graffiti ?

Gang members apologized when they realized the Modesto man they were attacking was not their intended victim, Heck, that's more than the BATFE, FBI, DEA, local police or sheriff do when they get the wrong house.
