Didn't this guy get the memo?

John McCain is the new John Wayne.

I can't believe how out of it some folks are.  ;-)

Wise Words from the DUKE

*Father’s Advice
“I’ve always followed my father’s advice: he told me, first to always keep my word and, second, to never insult anybody unintentionally. If I insult you, you can be goddamn sure I intend to. And, third, he told me not to go around looking for trouble.”

*God
“I’ve always had deep faith that there is a Supreme Being, there has to be. To me that’s just a normal thing to have that kind of faith. The fact that He’s let me stick around a little longer, or She’s let me stick around a little longer, certainly goes great with me—and I want to hang around as long as I’m healthy and not in anybody’s way.”

*On The Flag
“We’ve made mistakes along the way, but that’s no reason to start tearing up the best flag God ever gave to any country.”

*America
“Sure I wave the American flag. Do you know a better flag to wave? Sure I love my country with all her faults. I’m not ashamed of that, never have been, never will be. I was proud when President Nixon ordered the mining of Haiphong Harbor, which we should have done long ago, because I think we’re helping a brave little country defend herself against Communist invasion. That’s what I tried to show in The Green Berets and I took plenty of abuse from the critics.”

*On His Political Philosophy
“I have found a certain type calls himself a Liberal...Now I always thought I was a Liberal. I came up terribly surprised one time when I found out that I was a Right-Wing Conservative Extremist, when I listened to everybody’s point of view that I ever met, and then decided how I should feel. But this so-called new Liberal group, Jesus, they never listen to your point of view...”
“If everything isn’t black and white, I say why the hell not.”

*On Giving UP
“No you’re not. We can’t turn back! We’re blazing a trail that started in England. Not even the storms of the sea could turn back those first settlers - and they carried it on further, they blazed it on through the wilderness of Kentucky. Famine, hunger, not even massacres could stop them. Now we’ve picked up the trail again and nothing can stop us, not even the snows of winter nor the peaks of the highest mountain. We’re building a nation, but we’ve got to suffer. No great trail was ever blazed without hardship. And you’ve got to fight. That’s life! And when you stop fightin’, that’s death! What are you going to do, lay down and die? Not in a thousand years! You’re going on with me!”

*On Treatment
“I won’t be wronged, I won’t be insulted, and I won’t be laid a hand on. I don’t do these things to other people and I require the same from them.

*On Self Sufficiency
“Have you ever heard of some fellows who first came over to this country? You know what they found? They found a howling wilderness, with summers too hot and winters freezing, and they also found some unpleasant little characters who painted their faces. Do you think these pioneers filled out form number X6277 and sent in a report saying the Indians were a little unreasonable? Did they have insurance for their old age, for their crops, for their homes? They did not! They looked at the land, and the forest, and the rivers. They looked at their wives, their kids and their houses, and then they looked up at the sky and they said thanks God, we’ll take it from here.”

John Wayne was a great man. Not a perfect man, but a great man. I’m proud to present both him, personally, and the characters he portrayed as heroes for my sons to emulate, with a little personal spin, “See that? That’s what your grandfather would do, too!”

Daddy's advice is always good.

"I won't lose my temper, I won't hit you...Like HELL I Won't"

And the slide into the mud pit.

God bless John Wayne.

John Wayne passed away in June 1979 from cancer. One of his last public appearances, and at this time all knew that the end was near, was at a dinner to benefit a land purchase for a Scout reservation called John Wayne Outpost Camp.

At this dinner, the Duke recited the Scout Law. Then he did something unusual, he said “the twelve points of the Scout Law are “nice words.”” “Trouble is,” he continued, “we learn them so young we sometimes don’t get all the understanding that goes with them. I take care of that in my family. As each boy reaches Scout age, I make sure he learns the Scout Law. Then I break it down for him, with a few things I have picked up in more than half a century since I learned it.” Then the Duke proceeded to explain the importance of the Scout Law, breaking it down for the guests at the dinner, much like he would have for his grandson.

TRUSTWORTHY – The badge of honesty. Having it lets you look any man in the eye. Lacking it he won’t look back. Keep this one at the top of your list.

LOYAL – The very word is life itself, for without loyalty we have no love of person or country.

HELPFUL – Part sharing, part caring. By helping each other, we help ourselves, not to mention mankind. Be always full of help – the dying man’s last words.

FRIENDLY – Brotherhood is part of that word. You can take it in a lot of directions – and – do but make sure and start with brotherhood.

COURTEOUS – Allow each person his human dignity which means a lot more than saying “yes ma’am” and “thank you sir.” It reflects an attitude that later in life you wish you had honored more …. earlier in life. Save yourself that trouble. Do it now.

KIND – This one word would stop wars and erase hatreds. But its like your bicycle. Its just no good unless get out and use it.

OBEDIENT – Starts at home. Practice it in your family. Enlarge it in your friends. Share it with humanity.

CHEERFUL – Anyone can put on a happy face when the going is good. The secret is to wear it as a mask for your problems. It might surprise you how many others do the same thing.

THRIFTY – Means a lot more that putting pennies away, and is the opposite of cheap. Common sense covers it just about as well as anything.

BRAVE – You don’t have to fight to be brave. Millions of fine decent folks show more bravery than heavy-weight champs just by getting out of bed every morning, going out to do a good days work and living the best life they know how against the law of odds. Keep the word handy every day of your life.

CLEAN – Soap and water help a lot on the outside. But it is the inside that counts and don’t you ever forget it.

REVERANT – Believe in anything that you want to believe in but keep GOD at the top of it. With him, life can be a beautiful experience. Without him, you are just bidding time.

John Wayne then thanked those in attendance at the dinner for putting his name on the outpost camp and said, “I would rather see it here than on all the theater marquees the world over.”

What we need is not a third party but a more effective organization within the GOP. We need “Cowboy Republicans”. When a candidate is the real deal...a hardcore conservative...then he could be a “Cowboy endorsed” Republican.

There is now better part of American culture to show off to the rest of the world than that of cowboy culture. Sure the libs can't stand it but even in a place like Paris, France real cowboys are respected and the image of a tough cowboy is regarded as something of an ideal.

Of course cowgirls are a part of cowgirl culture. What better sport for a teen girl than barrel racing and Western horsemanship. I always rode English but I still love everything that is Western.

John Wayne's America is still here, it's just that the Democrats have it bottled up and theres not enough conservatives to pull open the stopper and let it out.

Where is my john wayne

Where is my prairie son

Where is my happy ending

Where have all the cowboys gone

That song popped into my head as soon as I read the article's title.

Good post. I am a bit confused though. Was this under iaea seal from the 1st Gulf War? We removed some stuff in 2004 that gave the un and the nyt(new york traitors) conniptions.

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/7/7/221342.shtml

Was this latest batch stuff that we knew he had and under seal or more recently obtained or hidden? Not that being under un seal means anything, just look at saddam and no dong kim's previous antics. Iraq also had a uranium mine up by the syrian border. Saddam and some of his scientists admitted that they were just waiting for the sanctions to be lifted before restarting the nuke program.

BTW, I just found a hat that I'd bought 25 yrs ago when driving truck through Texas. It's from Texas Hatters and it's called the "John Wayne", same one the "Duke" is wearing in the pic.

Thanks Sand Rat. As you know, BSA is still trying to create patriots. I think our Troop of about 80 boys is doing fine. Thanks for the BSA pings!

Thanks for the pin Chgogal, and thanks for posting those quotes, SandRat.

I was raised on cowboy lore and custom. So this ping was like a booster shot : )
