I'm a retired university professor, but what Boortz says here must have really set the Texas A&M faculty on fire. (Boortz graduated from Texas A&M). A long, but glorious, read.

Not sure, but ... I think Neil refers to this address as the one he wishes he could give/ could have given. If he actually delivered this speech, it would be a great thing.

Be interested to hear how his remarks were received.
I recently attended a dental school graduation where a retired four-star General and Joint Chiefs of Staff chairman was the commencement speaker.
After smelling salts were applied so I could regain consciousness after learning who was allowed to speak at a major university, I rather enjoyed his remarks...although they were largely apolitical.

The “teach-do” comment is inaccurate.
In particular, the engineering and science faculty at A&M and other schools are DOERS.
Period.
.......but I doubt that Boortz had them in mind when he spoke.

i like neal but i dont think this is the right forum for this type of speech. the kids are there to get a diploma and graduate, not get bopped over the head with a political message. i agree with everything hes saying but its not the place for it.

I would give anything to see a video of this, focusing entirely on the faculty, just to see thier apoplectic reactions. Nice post and a great read indeed.

Conservatives and Libertarians think -- and, setting aside the theocracy crowd, their identity is centered on the individual. When you take out the "theocracy", liberals and libertarians and conservatives all have the same goal.
That's the current state of things.
