i like neal but i dont think this is the right forum for this type of speech. the kids are there to get a diploma and graduate, not get bopped over the head with a political message. i agree with everything hes saying but its not the place for it.
Same here. I was trapped into listening to a leftie commencement talk last year. What an unpleasant experience. No reason why the right should do this either.
I'm not sure I agree with you. I can't begin to tell you how many commencement addresses I've had to sit through and most are of the "rah-rah, go get 'em" attitude and rarely give you anything to think about. This speech does.
As to whether it was given or not, I hope (and thought) it was. I did check here to make sure it wasn't a double-post, but I did not try to find it's archive. In my mind, that's not as important as its intent. Personally, I'd love to hear it given at a commencement address if for no other reason than it is thought-provoking. College students are incredibly naive and can soak things up well enough, but they are not independent thinkers. I think Boortz is simply telling them to start thinking on their own.
I disagree with you.
A commencement speech is the perfect opportunity to prepare them for the real world.
A good “bop on the head” may be the only thing to shake indoctrination and ignorance out of their mushy minds.
Hello! That's exactly what liberals have been delivering at commencements for a long time now.
...not get bopped over the head with a political message..
YOU THINK FOUR YEARS OF LIBERAL, COMMIE BRAINWASHING IS OK, BUT A POLITICAL MESSAGE THE LITTLE BASTARDS CAN’T HANDLE?
What better time and place to hear the truth after 4 - 5 years of liberal indoctrination?
A speech like this could stop many a starry eyed budding liberal from throwing their lives away.
It would be to their benefit if each graduate was required to hear (and understand) it before they are sent out into the real world.
Why? Too many young minds filled with liberal mush? No, sir... they should have heard this wisdom in 4th grade.
Speaking as a graduate of TAMU, I say to your comment: Baloney! That was exactly the right forum.
On the contrary - it’s the PERFECT place to start UNDOING the four years of damage (more like 16 years if you count elementary school and high school indoctrination) that the socialists that have completely taken over public education have inflicted on us.
They did THEIR Maoist “Long March” through academia - it’s high time our side starts fighting back.
You either take the fight directly to the enemy, or you allow him to have the advantage and bring it to YOU.
