A special meeting about Dallas County traffic tickets turned tense and bizarre this afternoon.
County commissioners were discussing problems with the central collections office that is used to process traffic ticket payments and handle other paperwork normally done by the JP Courts.
Commissioner Kenneth Mayfield, who is white, said it seemed that central collections "has become a black hole" because paperwork reportedly has become lost in the office.
Commissioner John Wiley Price, who is black, interrupted him with a loud "Excuse me!" He then corrected his colleague, saying the office has become a "white hole."
That prompted Judge Thomas Jones, who is black, to demand an apology from Mayfield for his racially insensitive analogy.
Mayfield shot back that it was a figure of speech and a science term. A black hole, according to Webster's, is perhaps "the invisible remains of a collapsed star, with an intense gravitational field from which neither light nor matter can escape."

Dallas was cool when Collins Radio was there and the high tech jobs gave some reason for being.
After the looney left ran everyone off... It was a sad place to be.
Better to go to a war zone and risk getting one's arse shot off. Or get a remote deployment where you WILL work your arse off.
I miss the good grocery stores, and some of my friends in the restaurant business. Otherwise... I have problems giving a damn. Ft. Worth is where the West begins. (rest of that line is left to historians, or those of us that grew up with it as children)

These ‘victims’ are clueless. By their ‘offended position’ at everything, they’ve reduced true racism to a meaningless word.
I’m sure he didn’t know what it meant.
But think about what happened. A black man, thinking that “black hole” was an attack on blacks, didn’t ask for an apology — instead, he purposely uttered a racist attack, calling it a “white hole”.
Then another black, seeing the racist attack, asks for an apology — but not from the guy who was clearly being racist, but from the other guy.
Sounds Mayfield may be in trouble for being literate. BTW, What is Ebonic for Black Hole? Perhaps, considering that Judge Jones is involved, rat hole might have been more appropriate. I hereby apologize to any rat that might be offended.
Bigger problem is that the Chamber of Commerce types now have to “explain this” to the next big factory/business/etc. that is thinking about relocating to Dallas.

To not know that “black Hole” is an astronomy term is breathtakingly ignorant. That ignoramuses like these are in positions of responsibility is troubling and very telling of the state of public education.
