Italy: Proposed fines for Muslims sparks controversy

The President of the northern Italian city of Milan, Filippo Penati, has triggered widespread debate with a controversial proposal to fine Muslims who pray on the streets outside the city's mosque.

According to authorities, the number of people praying on the sidewalk creates traffic and obstacles for pedestrians in the area surrounding the Viale Jenner mosque, a converted garage.

"Article 190 of the law regarding the obstruction of streets should be applied immediately," said Penati.

"I do not know or understand why the law has not been applied before," he said.

"The municipality of Milan should apply the law and fine transgressors, not to limit their freedom of worship, which should be guaranteed for all, but prayer carried out on the sidewalk is forbidden by the laws of our country."

The Viale Jenner mosque, or cultural Islamic centre, can only hold 4,000 faithful. Those who cannot fit inside bring their Islamic prayer mat and lay it on the street outside the mosque and close to passing cars.

Talks are underway to move the prayer hall to the larger 'Vigorelli' stadium and cycle track.

Here’s the difference. Italians know who they are and are proud of their heritage. They are happy with their way of life and don’t want outsiders to change it.
Compare that to Americans.

It is amazing how quick and effective just enforcing the law can be. Freedom to pray does not mean freedom to pray and block traffic interfering with other’s freedom to go on their way.

That’s what I was thinking - this is EXACTLY what they would do if they were in charge.

You cannot have any visible expression of religion other than Islam.
And you have to pay the “Jizya tax”, which is basically tribute for not being Muslim.

Unfortunately, most of the useful idiots of the left have no idea about these facts of Islam.

Perhaps sprinkling some pig and dog feces in the area will help?

Having been to Italy, I wouldnt't get within 10 yards of a moving vehicle there. Thant said... Now let's see if the Italians have the chops to follow through.

I wish our politicians would have one tenth the gut this man has.

On the other hand, it is amazing how fast Islam is taking Europe.

The West is busy aborting while they are taking over silently just by the numbers. They are not playing the game the West is playing.

We will learn some day.

It must be that the Muslums are doing this are purpose. They don’t need to make a scene while praying, it seems a little hypocrtical. But wait, they worship a false god anyways so being a hypocrit doesn’t factor in to the equation.

Yes this is fantastic news.

Maybe Italy won’t be lost.

Sad that France, Sweden and England will be unrecognizable in 20 years.

Muslims are attempting to replace Italian Opera with Islamic grievance theater.

Good to see someone is left in Europe who cares about their national identity and culture enough to stand up against the religion of perpetual outrage.

I’ve never been a fan of public prayer in general. If they are indeed creating a nuisance (and I find most public prayer a nuisance) then kudos to this Milanese.
