The percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%) say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious category.
Last month, 11% of voters gave the legislature good or excellent ratings. Congress has not received higher than a 15% approval rating since the beginning of 2008.
The percentage of Democrats who give Congress positive ratings fell from 17% last month to 13% this month. The number of Democrats who give Congress a poor rating remained unchanged. Among Republicans, 8% give Congress good or excellent ratings, up just a point from last month. Sixty-five percent (65%) of GOP voters say Congress is doing a poor job, down a single point from last month.
Voters not affiliated with either party are the most critical of Congressional performance. Just 3% of those voters give Congress positive ratings, down from 6% last month. Sixty-three percent (63%) believe Congress is doing a poor job, up from 57% last month.
Just 12% of voters think Congress has passed any legislation to improve life in this country over the past six months. That number has ranged from 11% to 13% throughout 2008. The majority of voters (62%) say Congress has not passed any legislation to improve life in America.

Finally, a coherent post!
I guess that they are counting on uninformed voter stupidity, which is never in short supply.
I was searching for his approval ratings. Do you know what they are?
I wonder what the percentage is of people who say congress should be stoned. It’s probably greater than 9%
“....they dont even know it is the Dems who have the majority.”
Sad but true. People registered to vote and plan on voting don’t know the Rats run congress. You can tell them it’s run but Rats and they’ll think it’s propaganda.
“...kinda thought that was up to me.”
The extent that my life lines up with what Jesus wants is the extent that I’m happy. Government shouldn’t be in that equation other than making it harder for folks to stop me.
They haven't screwed up the country as much as they'd like. That counts for something! ;-)
“I dont know what world these Republicans live in.”
They’re compassionate conservatives and they’re all voting for McCain.
That being said, it's no wonder that people are falling for Obama's message of change in Washington politics. People look at the traitors in DC and they want someone who's offering "hope and change!"
Oh for the days of 2.91/gallon!
I just don’t understand the push to get conservative to vote against what they believe in.
Keep Larry Craig!!??
That is exactly the case. Whenever I try to talk politics to friends and coworkers, all I hear is “Republicans keep screwing the poor to help the rich.” I am so tired of hearing it. I show them articles proving the ineptness of democrats and they ask if I made them up!
The problem with Congressional ratings is that people view Congress in general negatively, but like their Congressman.
Even so, this is so bad it may cost them.
It's fine if Conservatives were sufficient base to elect a President in the 21st century.
If you can't hear the fact that people want to be given freebies more than they want to work for deferred gratification, then you're not listening.
Ronald Reagan could not even win an election in the Katrina generation.
Other than restricting oil drilling in ANWAR and offshore coast, the congress was not that bad because its so ineffective. In a way, that's a good thing.
Where is the MSM on this story?? 9% is Pretty Bad...
that means 60% know who to blame. I'd also guess that a higher percentage of the 60% who know who is to blame are voters. I believe the 40% are the adults of the ratpollster push polls. I like what this 9% says. Thanks for cheering me up. |
Let’s talk about the first 100 days......
