The recently freed Colombian politician Ingrid Betancourt has urged an end to the Colombian government's "vocabulary of hate" against her former captors.

Ms Betancourt, a former presidential candidate, was held hostage for six years by Marxist Farc rebels.

But, while praising President Alvaro Uribe's work towards her release, she said it was time to end "extremist" language towards the Farc.

Ms Betancourt is in Paris, where she flew after her release on Wednesday.

"I think we have reached a point where we must change this radical, extremist vocabulary of hate of very strong words that intimately wound the human being," she told French radio.

Ingrid Betancourt is a humanist, socialist, pacifist herself.

She was kidnapped as the “Green Party” candidate for president.

I guess her big differences with them were the guns, violence, kidnapping and drugs.

She probably agreed with them 90 percent of the time.

She’s probably saddened that Commondante Cesar was also tricked, lured onto the chopper, and imprisoned.

I wonder if they were playing footsie during her captivity? Without a doubt she was the “star prisoner.”

Gosh, yes; let's get rid of those very strong words that intimately wound the terrorists, and just shoot them with our guns. Much kinder all around.

In other words, she was an idiot before she was kidnapped. Makes sense. Thanks.

“strong words”

are apparently more dangerous

than murder or terrorism

to the left.

Okay, who on FR hates very strong words? Hate of very strong words appears to be a problem. Oops, that may have been strongly worded.

Here's an interesting article from 2007...

Democrats Cold-shoulder Colombian President
By Sher Zieve (05/08/07)

In a new show of force against yet another pro-democratic government, US Democrat leaders snubbed Colombian President Alvaro Uribe. Still gushing from her meeting with terrorist leader and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, initially the Democrat Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi had refused to meet with Uribe - at all. An aide to Pelosi is quoted as having said: "She has third parties who have encouraged her not to take the meeting. We've never seen anything like it. It's not like we're talking about some family from San Francisco who stopped by her office unannounced. This is the president of a country!" Note: The third parties are said to be Moveon.org and labor organizations. Uribe is also said to have received an extremely "cool reception" from Democrats, as he sought to receive approval for a free trade agreement between Columbia and the United States.

So Ingrid is tortured and terrorized in the presence of her FARC captors yet when released she pines away for them and laments for them.

Sounds like an abused woman who just can't live without her abusers. Then again liberals require constant therapy!
