I have a close enough relationship with mexico... neighbors have chickens running in their yard, sheets and clothing hanging on the fences, jacked up cars in their yard, a run down motor home used as living...the guy knocking on my door selling home made tamales, another running around selling flats of “huevos”, a man pushing a pop sicle cart..another selling bed pillows strung on a long stick hung over their shoulders.. it never ends....

Instead of importing Mexico's poverty, we should be exporting America's prosperity. Start by changing their property laws, let anybody from anywhere buy land everywhere in their country. The rich gringos (that would be us) would buy up all of the best land, and develop it. That would create jobs. And because Americans, unless they're Democrats, don't tolerate corruption, the government of Mexico would begin to clean itself. The poor people today could work and save and start their own business. They could build schools, and infrastructure.
Or we could just keep importing uneducated cheap labor and pay them slave wages, and let our country become as rotten as Mexico.

A couple of years ago our neighborhood was invaded by all this plus endless cards for tree trimming, house cleaning, etc. They don’t just leave the cards, they stick them in the door, ring the doorbell and walk off. I get to the door and they are walking down our driveway on the way to the next house. Peeves me off to no end. I have gotten to the point that when my doobell rings at least 5 times a day with these people I answer it screaming at them.
I am sure I am not the only one. You are right, I have had enough of Mexico and it’s citizens.

Furthermore, Mexico (and having a stable, prosperous Mexico) actually is crucial to our security. Calderon is genuine trying to deal with the massive corruption and disorder, ranging from having certain cities run by drug terrorists to plain old financial hanky panky among the bureaucrats. He also has to deal with heavily left-wing unions and a small ultra-wealthy class that has gotten where it is thanks to the state and doesn't want things to change.

In addition, people from other parts of Latin America (ranging from economic refugees to Chavez' infiltration forces) are a real problem on Mexico's southern border. Mexico represents a buffer to us, and yesterday McCain discussed the importance of keeping Mexico's northern border tight, as well.

But of course the usual "hate Mexico" crowd doesn't want to hear that.
