The campaign of 2008 started on July 1 when Obama launched his first national advertising buy of the season. How McCain responds and whether or not he does, will have a big impact in determining whether Obama can solidify or expand his current lead in the polls. As always, the media fails to cover the significant events of the campaign -- but this is one of the most critical.

On the other hand, if McCain calls him on his distortion, he can do grave damage to Obama on three fronts: credibility, centrism, and experience. By catching Obama in a lie, he can undermine the effectiveness of any subsequent ads the Democrat runs. By showing that he opposed welfare reform, McCain can do much to force Obama back to the left and cast doubt on his efforts to move to the middle. And by emphasizing Obama's limited experience, he can strike at a soft spot --- made softer by Hillary's attacks in the primary.
The move is right there for McCain. Now lets see how good his campaign really is.

And they said Fred Thompson was an anemic campaigner. Where's John McCain? What's this "if he responds?"
How did this happen??

Lot of good all that money down the tubes did for Osama, er Obama, in Texas, Ohio, Pennsylvania and assorted other places at the end of the dum primaries.

if mccain would just focus.
focus for example on the price of gasoline and remind people
that dems won’t drill for oil.

How McCain responds and whether or not he does.... B-HO has given him plenty of ammo, that's for sure. He just needs to use it.

That’s it. He needs to drill into the electorate’s heads that the Democrats have consistently blocked any new oil drilling for decades, keeping us utterly dependent on Arab oil in the process.

Eh. I saw the Obama ad last night and it did nothing for me. McCain has been running ads in Pennsylvania for weeks. McCain is being smarter with his money and running ads in the battleground states where it matters, and on cable channels where he can reach his targeted audience. Obama is wastng his money on national TV ads in the dead of summer when nobody watches TV.

He hasn't seen the whites of Obama's eyes yet.
I am betting that McCain is doing enough to keep it close and once Obama has the nomination he will unload.
I think people need to understand that Obama isn't a young centrist black man whose name is Walter Mondale or Michael Dukakis or even Bill Clinton. He is just as liberal as those men if not more so and he has 3 Muslim names, one which sounds so much like Osama, public enemy #1, even his supporters slip up and call him that, and the other is the exact name of the dictator that forced us into war for the last 5 years.
Remember that Clinton won only 43% of the popular vote against a very unpopular incumbent.

He's as much as said he would not attack Obama which translates to I am friggin snobass who thinks I'm above everyone so I'm going to show it by not responding.
I predict McCain won't do diddly squat and will just might end up like the moderate Dole did in '96.
These moderates/rino's are twincy losers!

Apparently, McCain isn't ready for prime time, yet.
The campaign of 2008 started on July 1 when Obama launched his first national advertising buy of the season.
It is now July 7. A week has gone by. If Team McCain is going to leave that much time before countering, his counters will have little-to-no effect.
For this one, anything now would be too-little-too-late. This opportunity has passed. Maybe Team McCain will be awake by the time of the next one.

I’m not so sure. If he picks the vehemently pro-life governor of Alaska, they might not flock to him.
The “female” dhimmirat vote is focussed on the ability to provide the “final solution” to the unfair biological problematic result of sex.

Or would appear to be pandering of the worst for order, which could cause a tremendous backlash. It would all depend on whom he chooses.
