Support stops till Barack Obama keeps his word on key issues - fans

Stop giving money to Barack Obama! Don't volunteer for him! That's the biting message from some unhappy precincts of Obama Nation.

A New York Obama backer disenchanted with the Democratic candidate's post-primary lurch to the center Thursday launched an Internet campaign urging the likeminded to withhold campaign donations until Obama lives up to his promises.

"He shouldn't take us for granted - he shouldn't just assume we're just an ATM machine," said Bob Fertik, founder of Democrats.com, a group of self-described progressive activists. "We're enthusiastic about him, but our level of financial commitment is going to depend on his level of leadership on the issues that we care about."

Fertik started Thursday what he's calling the "Obama Progressive Escrow Fund," asking backers to put money they planned to donate to Obama "in escrow."

Fertik is fired up over Obama's decision to support counterterrorism legislation granting legal immunity to telecommunications companies that complied with President Bush's warrantless wiretapping program.

While that issue tops many supporters' complaint lists, Obama's comments on gun rights, capital punishment and Israeli-Palestinian policy have also shaken his fan base.

Jake Barlow of San Francisco, who donated $2,000 to Obama and traveled to Texas to campaign for him, said he has called off plans to give $2,600 more and work as a volunteer in a fall battleground state. His reason for sitting on his hands and wallet is the wiretapping flap.

"I thought Barack Obama was different," Barlow, 40, said. "He's now starting to look like a vacillating, flip-flopping politician, and I just can't in good conscience support that."

Glenn Greenwald, a writer for Salon.com, said, he, too, won't donate a dime to Obama.

"Obama is jeopardizing himself by fundamentally abandoning his values and positions and angering his supporters," he said.

Jen Psaki, a spokeswoman for Obama, did not respond Thursday to an inquiry from the Daily News.

Dan Gerstein, a New York-based political consultant and Obama backer, said he believes some of Obama's supporters are being "unrealistic and bordering on naive."

"He is trying to broaden his appeal to a larger electorate and to be true to this postpartisan, unifying message that he's been campaigning on," he said.

“Stop giving money to Barack Obama! Don’t volunteer for him! That’s the biting message from some unhappy precincts of Obama Nation.”

This of course, could give Barry the opportunity to “clarify” his position on fundraising as he suddenly chooses to accept public funding after all.

And it won’t be a flip-flop.

And if it is, it’s because the Republicans made him.

;)

The lefties need to understand that B. Hussein Obama is only saying what he is being instructed to say by the people who are pulling his strings.

"Support stops till Barack Obama keeps his word on key issues - fans"

Talk about bad wording.

More like:

"Money stops till Barack Obama keeps his word on hating America - lunatics"

What's pathetic is that Obama has to answer to these ridiculous Daily Kos losers.

Either that, or he received enough of their cashola to realize that he doesn't need them anymore.

"We're enthusiastic about him, but our level of financial commitment is going to depend on his level of leadership on the issues that we care about."

TRANSLATION:

"We're enthusiastic about him, but our level of financial commitment is going to depend on his level of hatred and contempt toward the American way of life."

Good for them

If they wanted Hillary they would've voted for her. Instead they wanted a leftist, progressive candidate.

"Obama is jeopardizing himself by fundamentally abandoning his values."

Here's a little news flash for ya, pal. Obama has NO values!

Obama has become so full of self importance now that he's keeping company with big name Hollywood stars that the arrogant POS doesn't need them. I hope he keeps on showing the world that he is, in fact, business as usual in DC! He's corrupted by his lust for power and money.

The only thing surprising is how naive these Obama supporters were in the beginning...read Obama’s biography...white grandparents fight to get him into the tony private school in Hawaii...he learns there that he is exotic and is hip to be around because he can be both black when he wants to be and white when he wants to be...goes to an ordinary second rate college in Los Angeles and finds out about a “person of color” matriculation program at Columbia...poses as an inner city LA black and writes a creative entrance essay and gets the slot...graduates and does some second rate “community organizing” in Southside Chicago...with affirmative action as his wedge once again, he parlays Indonesia, half white/half black, Hawaii, Columbia and South Side Chicago into another creative essay that the salon set at Harvard Law just eat up. So, along with his above average LSATs and a penchant for affirmative action, he gets a slot in Cambridge.

His black when he wants to be/white when he wants to be act makes him the chic-est little law student on campus so he gets the post of president of the Law Review without ever writing an article. Because he gets that slot, he gets a tidy book advance to write his half life of a memoir. He works his south side connections into a seat in front of Reverend Wright, a slot in an affirmative action law firm and all the black community connections he needs to become a state senator. When the opening arises,he works the same act and along with an opportune scandal on the Republican side, parlays the “chic road show” into a U. S. Senate seat. He’s there less than 100 days before he is putting together a campaign for the White House. (I’d be interested in the story behind how the scandal during the senate race first came to light.)

So now, the jerks who ordained this guy as their messiah are coming to find out that all he is is a charlatan who’s been working a system tailor made to keep advancing him based on pithy essays, white guilt and salon chic without him having done anything at all but fill out the next application and essay. Best of all, he’s a sociopath with a huge ego and a secret attitude that says, “If these people are dumb enough to believe all the bull I am laying on them and are willing to keep giving things to me, of course I am gonna keep taking it.”

The sad part is that he stands for nothing and represents no one’s true interests but his own. All this hope and change nonsense has all the depth of a high school student council campaign...are we too stupid to realize what we are doing here?

“Hello McFly? Is there anyone in there???”

Oh no!!! Has The Savior (cue angelic harps and supernatural glow surrounding a pic of The Messiah) become (gasp) just another politician? Maybe the haze around his head is clearing or the fog in the heads of his supporters. Obama is just another slimy, Dem pol who craves power. That’s all he is.

Are you suggesting there is a difference between the two?

That would be most of The House and Senate. Not just that asshole.

Charlatan. I’ve been thinking that term for some time. Now that you’ve used it (and current news supports its use), the word looks absolutely perfect here in FR.

I believe you’re right, prole, about Obama’s ability to ignore those who have already donated to his campaign.

He’s got all the money he needs, now he’s working for votes and seems willing to say anything to appeal to the folks in front of him.

A huge character flaw, and the media has ahold of it. It should haunt Obama throughout the rest of his campaign if he continues to flip-flop.
