Thomas Beatie, who was born a woman but after surgery and hormone treatment lives as a man, has given birth to a girl at an Oregon hospital, People magazine reported on Thursday.
Beatie, 34, who kept female reproductive organs when he legally became a man 10 years ago, confirmed the birth to the magazine.
The baby, conceived through artificial insemination using donor sperm and Beatie's own eggs, was born on June 29 and Beatie and the baby are "healthy and doing well," People reported.
"The only thing different about me is that I can't breast-feed my baby. But a lot of mothers don't," People quoted Beatie as saying. He has had his breasts surgically removed.

I expected to see that this was from scrappleface, but reuters? How does someone become legally male, when obviously she was not?
Mutilated, hairy woman gives birth.
I wish they’d quit calling that freak a man. “It” is a mentally ill woman with some surgery, some hormones, a goofy legal ruling, and a lot of attention from a perverted media.
Did the baby pop out of his penis?
Freaks.
HOW THE HELL IS HE “legally” a MAN???
Female DNA= female
I don’t give a crap what you cut off or add on, if you have female DNA, you are a female.

I’ll reserve comment, other than to say the child is likely going to have a very tough childhood.
I don’t care what you call “it”. If “it” has given birth, “it” is a woman. For the love of God, someone please give me my country back!
My thoughts too. Who exactly conferred upon her the title of "legally male" when she left her vagina and uterus untouched?
I wonder if he really is “legally” considered a male if they put her/him down as the father on the birth certificate.
Also, if he/she is”legally” male can they be “married”?
AND can they put each other on insurance?
“...only thing different about me is that I can’t breast feed the baby...”
Uh-huh!
That child will need a lot of prayers over the course of the next 18 years or more.
Poor little girl, to have such a confused mother.
I was surprised to see Reuters put quotation marks around the word man in the topic title.
Most likely. Even if s/he isn't legally a man, in a lot of locales and with a lot of companies, same sex couples can insure each other.
The part that bothers me about this is, as a mother of a boomerang adult, I can't put him on my insurance. I'm not the only person w/an adult child at home and that 'child' working jobs without insurance. It could also be the other way around, if I was waiting tables somewhere and didn't have benefits, he couldn't put me on his insurance and we're blood relations.
Insurance is a contract - why not let us choose who we want - same sex, parent, adult child, friend - on the policy and let us pay for it?

I think any girl that has a female parent who has cut off her breasts ( other than for medical reasons), taken hormones to grow facial hair, dress and present herself as a male to society will be very confused and have some esteem issues with regard to her gender.
