Slum Lords for Obama [Greg Pollowitz]
Whoa. The Boston Globe has a devastating article out on the Senator from Hyde Park. (via Ace) An excerpt:
As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a US senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.
But a Globe review found that thousands of apartments across Chicago that had been built with local, state, and federal subsidies including several hundred in Obama's former district deteriorated so completely that they were no longer habitable.
Grove Parc and several other prominent failures were developed and managed by Obama's close friends and political supporters. Those people profited from the subsidies even as many of Obama's constituents suffered. Tenants lost their homes; surrounding neighborhoods were blighted.
As they say, read the whole thing. Hillary must be wondering why she couldn't dig this stuff up. What's amazing is how this story includes just about everyone in Obama's life. Another example:
In 2000 Davis asked the nonprofit Woods Fund of Chicago for a $1 million investment in a new development partnership, Neighborhood Rejuvenation Partners. Obama, a member of the board, voted in favor, helping Davis secure the investment.
Davis is Obama's former boss. The Woods Fund is the nonprofit that has terrorist Bill Ayers as a board member. And now they're involved in a real estate project that's a disaster?

Here’s the link for the article referenced in the piece:
Long...but fascinating reading.
Is connecting the dots off-limited in this race?
Wanna bet every tenant in Grove Parc will be voting for him come Nov.
It’s the title on Nation Review. Click the link under the Thread heading.
You should read the article. These places weren’t built well, maintained well and then were abandoned. Obama even defended one of the developers from a lawsuit by the tenants.
Money talks.

Man that bus must be about 80 feet off the ground by now.
I didn’t post the piece- I posted Greg’s blog entry ABOUT the piece as I thought he made some good points about it- if the mods disagree they’ll change it.
Undoubtedly- how people care for their own residence is a personal responsibility- but that’s another thread altogether.
How Barack got this far this fast with so little scrutiny is a head-scratcher.
One explanation is from an article I read here a month or so back (no link, sorry). Axelrod’s entire campaign has been based on selling the image, the personality and the rhetoric of Obama. Avoid the tedious policy discussions- focus on sweeping and inspirational ideas and words.
Seems to have been pretty effective, so far.
“How is this 4th rate political Chicago hack the Democrat nominee for POTUS? It just defies explanation.”
The same way a 2nd rate “maverick”and political hack is Republican nominee for POTUS!
I guess when you have the willing 'gloss over' from the MSM, anything is possible. Along with an electorate whose motto is "Oh look, something shiny!"
Excellent!
It's because of Chicago politics. There is someone behind Obama (my guess would J. Jackson and his rainbow people).
Oh look something shiny.
Just a ‘flash in the pan.’

Check out the Obama in Kenya video.
Is it libertylover or leftylibber?
I agree... the biggest problem with public housing, is the public they house.
