If he really believes that weapons usually "harm the people carrying them," I'm sure he'll be disarming all of the FBI's agents any day now, right?

Too stupid to be FBI Director. Fire him immediately! He’s a threat to every law abiding citizen.

Hey, Bob - if you think Americans are clumsy around guns, set an example and disarm all your own agents first! Then you can talk about how guns would harm those carry them.

What the hell is he talking about?
It’s all handwringing gobbletygook. I am glad to see we have a bleeding heart running the FBI.

When I get my own personal bodyguard assigned to me by the gubbmint I might not feel the need to go armed.
The fools, bunglers, and idiots of the FBI did such a good job of protecting us from 9/11 that I feel safer providing my own security, thank you Mr. Mueller you bureaucratic boob you.

I'd like to see him say that to the men and women of the armed forces.

It sure will make it easier to burn women and children alive if their men are disarmed.
He's the face of the FBI.
Anybody that thinks law enforcement will "defend" citizens when or if a totalitarian government comes into power is fooling themselves.
What a mealy mouthed bureaucrat.
How 'bout this. Train your snipers not to kill innocent women or burn families alive when you could easily arrest somebody.

Robert Mueller said he tends to believe that "weapons harm people, and more often than not they harm the people carrying them." Include intentional, deliberate suicides and he may have a point.
Of course, one could make a similar point about high-rise buildings and jumpers....

“college campuses and small communities could be “potential incubators of terrorism”
Director Mueller must have received his copy of Chairman Obama’s talking points. “small communities” are hotbeds of “clingers.” Clinging to their religion and their guns. Small communities are a danger to the big cities according to the Director of the FBI. He must have some crime statistics not released to the public.

He said with his grandchildren going to college, he hopes "those campuses will be weapons-free." Well, they won't be. They will only be law-abiding-citizens-weapons-free. Criminals will still have guns on campus, just as they do now, just as they did last year at Virginia Tech, when a teacher had to sacrifice his life because he didn't have a gun in his drawer.

J. Edgar Hoover is rolling over in his grave. Even if Mueller thinks this way, he definitely should keep his mouth shut, because it reveals what a wimp we have heading the FBI.
To: xjcsa
He should be immediately fired. He took an oath, he’s breaking it. Bush should can his stupid ass.

I wonder if the Director would care to release full and transparent reporting on the rate at which Bureau personnel who have been issued firearms have violated the Bureau's own firearms policies.
When I did this research on local police departments in the midwest, what little data that I could tease out of the stonewall of glaring silence indicated that the rate is higher than that in the community of CCW permitees.
But, we'll never know because I found nobody with any appetite to talk about the subject, let alone release internal reports.
