ABC News' Bret Hovell Reports: John McCain, taking questions from reporters aboard his Straight Talk Express: The Airplane Edition, said it was time for the campaign of Sen. Barack Obama to cut retired Gen. Wesley Clark loose.
"I think it's up to Sen. Obama now to not only repudiate him, but to cut him loose," McCain said to a small group of reporters somewhere between Indianapolis, IN, and Cartagena, Colombia.
For two days, the Obama campaign has been off message, forced to manage the fallout surrounding comments Clark made about McCain's war service in a broadcast interview Sunday. The highly regarded former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO said of McCain, whose plane was shot down and was later held captive in Vietnam, "I don't think riding in a fighter plane and getting shot down is a qualification to be president."
Onboard his plane Tuesday, McCain was asked if Obama -- who did reject Clark's comments on Monday --had done enough to repudiate the general. He didn't take the bait. "That's up to others to decide," said McCain. "I'm not going to worry about the comments General Clark made."
He implied that Clark's comments were a distraction, saying they didn't help solve the economic woes of the United States.
The wide ranging media avail was divided into 2 parts because of space concerns. About half of the 20 members of press traveling with the campaign joined McCain at a time in an area on the plane specifically designed for the flying press conference.
You think that Wesley Percy Cecil Gayboy Clark should be Barack Hussein Mohammed Karl Marx Obama’s running mate?
Ok...I’m down with that.
Doesn't seem to be working out so far the way they expected it to. They're getting "swiftboated" right back from people who aren't clowns like they are.
Sissy Clark and hothead Webb bit off more than than will be able to chew.
And Clark's disgusting display took Obama by surprise.
Yes it did.
If McCain “calmed down” anymore he would be asleep.
I think McCain needs to call out these clowns. Say they have sold out their country for the love of power.
Throw down the gauntlet on these bums.
He doesn't need to lower himself. It's being handled and taken care of.
But taking 4 rounds from an AK does make you qualified?
What an absolute tool!
LOL at the title!
Now that Jim Webb is speaking out and agreeing with Wesley ,
maybe the two of them can get together and reinact some gay scenes from one of Webb’s porno books he wrote.
Folks in Virginia must not be too smart to send that piece
of garbage to the Senate over George Allen.
This is perfect. McCain doesn’t play up his veteran status at all... It’s ALL talked about by the Obama camp ONLY. Which just highlights the Obamassiah’s own shortcomings in terms of anything related to service to the nation.
McCain’s playing this perfect. Stay above it, the Donks will sink themselves over it. They won’t stop talking about his service, and that does nothing but point out Obama’s lack thereof...
An erect Wesley Clark has no conscience.
Hummmm? So highly regarded that he was the first (IIRC) NATO commander to be removed from command and quietly retired from the military before his appointed term had expired. His 'hissy fit' over the Russian troops sizing the Pristina airport before Clark could get NATO troops in no doubt forced Clinton to quietly throw his fellow Arkansan Rhodes Scholar under the bus.
Both our NATO partners and the Russians were bitching to high heaven over the guy's antics. Clinton dumped him before he could create an international incident.
The RATs are Swift Boating themselves. Too funny.
I think you’re confusing asses for something else.
Rent a copy of Deliverance and update your post. LOL
Wesley looked positively radiant on the cover of The Advocate, don’t you think?
Yeah, it’s not as if McCain did anything serious for his country like being a community organizer.
I am so ashamed Webb is my Senator. The last ex-Marine Dem Virginia sent to the Senate, by comparison, walks on water.
By the MSM of course. Does anyone else's opinion matter?
Hey, hole, isn't this in dispute? Has Obama actually come out and said he rejects what WESLEY CLARK SAID?
Obama has come no where close to rejecting the weasel's comments.
Obama never mentioned Clark by name on Monday and today he simply characterized the comments as "inartful"
Some campaign hack for Obama has "rejected" what Clark spewed, but Obama himself has yet to toss the weasel under the bus.
