The highly regarded former Supreme Allied Commander of NATO

Hummmm? So highly regarded that he was the first (IIRC) NATO commander to be removed from command and quietly retired from the military before his appointed term had expired. His 'hissy fit' over the Russian troops sizing the Pristina airport before Clark could get NATO troops in no doubt forced Clinton to quietly throw his fellow Arkansan Rhodes Scholar under the bus.

Both our NATO partners and the Russians were bitching to high heaven over the guy's antics. Clinton dumped him before he could create an international incident.
