Failed 2004 Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) lashed out today at the most decorated living American serviceman, Col. Bud Day, who was awarded the Medal Honor for his heroism as a POW during the Vietnam War.
Kerry attacked Day for his role in the McCain Truth Squad (a new effort by presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain to defend his military service from criticism) because of Day's participation in the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (SBVT) 2004 campaign which criticized Kerry's service in Vietnam as a junior naval officer and his actions protesting the war when he returned home. The scathing attacks by the SBVT and Kerry's weak response are widely credited with sinking his candidacy.
In a McCain Truth Squad conference call with reporters today, Day defended the SBVT, saying, "The Swift Boat attacks were simply a revelation of the truth, the similarity does not exist here. What the Swift Boat campaign was about was to lay out John Kerry's record. John Kerry has never produced any evidence to deny that. We are producing the evidence of these attacks right now to show that those remarks were completely inaccurate."
Kerry responded with a statement to the press: "Colonel Day's comments today only further highlight the McCain campaign's disregard for a new kind of politics. John McCain condemned these kinds of attacks in 2004 when he called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth 'dishonest and dishonorable.' Senator McCain should condemn these remarks and cut ties with the Colonel and anyone else connected to SBVT. Day's comments only serve to disparage all those who served on swift boats in Vietnam."
Kerry served in Vietnam for a few months.
Day was held prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese from 1967-1973. McCain and Day were cellmates at the Hanoi Hilton.
Rice Butt opens his piehole once more.
Men with integrity vs. men with none.
No Senator Kerry, only you have managed to achieve that distinction.
Kerry isn’t fit to carry Bud Day’s jock.
John Kerry is clinically insane
So will McCain embrace the Swifties or throw them under the bus? This will be very interesting.
Since Kerry begged McCain to be his VP for weeks, we can expect Yaaawn’s endorsement any day now.
If you like $5/gal, Thank Congress. If you want $10, Vote Obama.

Actually, I enjoy the last two lines of the article. Talk about a clear distinction between ol’ Horse Face and two men who should ship him off to the Glue Factory.
Jihn who? Seems someone is still a tad touchy about his “stories” being exposed for what they were?
John who? Seems someone is still a tad touchy about his “stories” being exposed for what they were?
A democratic strategist on tonight Hannity & Colmes tried to trash Col. Day and Rich Lowrey (subbing for Hannity) did not let him get away with it.
Did he really? Huh. First I'd heard.
To be serious for a moment, here is a guy who sat there in 1971, sponsored and protected by Teddy Kennedy, and lied his miserable, sorry a$$ off in unsworn "testimony" to the tune of "we're all war criminals except for those of us morally pure enough to accuse our fellow soldiers and sailors of being war criminals." There are cockroaches I respect more than that. Meanwhile the guy he's now casting aspersions on (again) was being beaten and tortured by the same pieces of garbage Kerry was aiding and abetting. There gets to be a point at which sheer, unadulterated hyprocisy hits its limits and decent people marvel at this illimitable capacity for self-aggrandizement and self-deception. But those of us who were in uniform at the time ain't buyin' it, Kerry. We know better. We know you for what you are. Go sell this crap somewhere else.
On the day that Barry gives his (I am too a patriot) speech, we get Obies surrogates defending Clarks insinuations that McCains war service is inconsequential and now Kerry deriding Bud Day of all people...
Good God, who's next on the dem hit parade? Eisenhower? Patton?
Jeeze
Holy crap, he served in Vietnam!?! Who knew?
