Failed 2004 Democratic presidential nominee Sen. John Kerry (Mass.) lashed out today at the most decorated living American serviceman, Col. Bud Day, who was awarded the Medal Honor for his heroism as a POW during the Vietnam War.
Kerry attacked Day for his role in the McCain Truth Squad (a new effort by presumptive Republican presidential candidate John McCain to defend his military service from criticism) because of Day's participation in the Swift Vets and POWs for Truth (SBVT) 2004 campaign which criticized Kerry's service in Vietnam as a junior naval officer and his actions protesting the war when he returned home. The scathing attacks by the SBVT and Kerry's weak response are widely credited with sinking his candidacy.
In a McCain Truth Squad conference call with reporters today, Day defended the SBVT, saying, "The Swift Boat attacks were simply a revelation of the truth, the similarity does not exist here. What the Swift Boat campaign was about was to lay out John Kerry's record. John Kerry has never produced any evidence to deny that. We are producing the evidence of these attacks right now to show that those remarks were completely inaccurate."
Kerry responded with a statement to the press: "Colonel Day's comments today only further highlight the McCain campaign's disregard for a new kind of politics. John McCain condemned these kinds of attacks in 2004 when he called the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth 'dishonest and dishonorable.' Senator McCain should condemn these remarks and cut ties with the Colonel and anyone else connected to SBVT. Day's comments only serve to disparage all those who served on swift boats in Vietnam."
Kerry served in Vietnam for a few months.
Day was held prisoner of war by the North Vietnamese from 1967-1973. McCain and Day were cellmates at the Hanoi Hilton.
Until Kerry fully releases his military records, nothing he says about the military or anyone who has served has any credibility whatsoever.
Kerry has absolutely NO credibility whatsoever, PERIOD.
There, fixed it.
lol!
My contributions to SBVT were among the most satisfying contributions I ever made.
Up yours, Lurch.
Looks like John Kerry is once again “Reporting for duty” ...for the commies ( just like he did in the 70’s)
You know...for the first time I am beginning to look forward to campaigning again this season! I want to Freep these jerks when they hit town!
John Kerry cracking on Colonel Bud Day? File this under a turd telling a rose its petals stink.
Thanks, Kristinn.
Doesn't matter. McCain will throw him under the bus by...what's today? Monday?...by Tuesday.
I think Obama had a spokesman say that he “of course” rejected Weasley Clark’s statement.
I ain’t defendin’ Obama. You asked if he’d condemn Weasley. Obama threw him under the bus at the first opportunity.
“Swiftboating” Senator, is when the truth about your past comes back to haunt you.
It was and is an honorable approach to reveal the character of a candidate!
Kerry is his own enemy, in his own arrogance he just doesn’t know when to shut up.
This is an election. Maybe you need to be more specific. Condemnation, rejection, refutation...1st hand, spokesman, attack dog....Obama threw Weasley under the bus. He’s under there w/ Rev. Wright, Obama’s “white” grandmother, etc. Don’t matter the path- Obama put him there.
We need to find a reporter who will ask Kerry point blank at a press conference if he was ever less than honorably discharged from the military prior to receiving an honorable discharge (i.e. after the Carter amnesty.)
When his campaign flaks were asked this question in 2004, they refused to answer. The treason media has let him off the hook ever since.
