Republicans are having a field day over a flier sent out by U.S. Rep. Tim Mahoney that shows an elderly gentleman bedecked with what appear to be Soviet medals.
The picture is on the cover of a Mahoney flier labeled: Honoring Those Who Defend Our Freedom. The flier touts Mahoneys record on veterans issues.
Is Tim Mahoneys commitment to our veterans so shallow and superficial that he cant even tell the difference between an American veteran and one who fought for Communism in Joseph Stalins Red Army?? said Ken Spain, press secretary for the National Republican Congressional Committee.

Maybe it’s that crazy uncle of Obama’s who liberated Auschwitz.
That is why when liberals say they served in the Army, you always have to ask, which one?

The guy looks a LOT like Buck Henry.
I was just thinking the same thing!
I can’t get to the article. Did the Palm Beach post already pull it down to avoid embarassing a (D)?
I clicked the link and got a notice that the page was not found. Did it get spiked already?
Looks like they pulled it.
I just was able to see it.
This is a stunning indictment of Mahoneys utter lack of knowledge concerning veterans issues. We knew he had Socialist tendencies when it came to his record, but this takes it to a whole new laughable level, Spain said. In an enlargement of the photo, the hammer and sickle logo of the former Soviet Union is clearly visible on the top medal on the mans left breast pocket. A Mahoney spokesperson could not be reached for comment.
HEHE!!
Hey Fox, that photo looks like some of the Russians who
immigrated in the late 1990s and bit later and some who
live a block from me in sr. citizen high rises here in San Diego
Until they got a clue, I would see some at the bus stops
at the corner with their Communist Medals from WWII.

It’s still there. It may be a bandwidth problem. I’m sure a lot of people are going there for a look. This seems to be a problem with the left. Who was it that used a picture of Canadian troops recently. There have been at least 2 similiar incidents lately. And didn’t they photoshop some trousers on them because they were wearing shorts?
They sure as hell didn’t “liberate” Poland, or any other Eastern European country.
Uncle Joe?
“What’s even more ironic is the Russians revere their veterans and we have to trash ours!”
Maybe now since there are so few of them left. They were ordered not to talk about what they saw during the war and until Stalin’s death were under heavy suspicion since they had their eyes opened by the obviously superior living conditions in the west.
I don’t know that you will find many Soviet veterans who feel that they were treated well. Its a fairly recent thing that they have been invited to speak at schools etc.
Are you going to watch the PBS special ?
MEMBERS of the Greatest Generation - especially those with weak hearts - might want to steer clear of an upcoming PBS documentary that suggests the Allied victory in World War II was “tainted” and questions whether it can even be called a victory.
Moreover, the documentary, titled “The War of the World: A New History of the 20th Century,” asserts that the war could only be won by forming an unholy alliance with a dictator - Joseph Stalin, who was as brutal as the one they were fighting, Adolf Hitler - and by adopting the same “pitiless” and “remorseless” tactics practiced by the enemy.
The three-part documentary is a companion to the best-selling book, “The War of the World: Twentieth Century Conflict and the Descent of the West” by Harvard and Oxford historian Niall Ferguson. The one-hour Part One of the documentary premieres Monday night at 10 on Ch. 13. The other two parts air the following two Mondays. World War II is the focus of Part Two.
