Abdel Rahim al-Nashiri, currently a prisoner at the US detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, is suspected of being behind the attacks in the 1990s.

Arrested in October 2002 in the United Arab Emirates, he spent several years in secret CIA prisons.

But, but...I thought the people at Guantanamo were innocent victims of the evil Bush administration who are being denied their Constitutional right to habeas corpus, and who deserve a free trip to the U.S. for a jury trial of their peers, with defense attornies provided at taxpayer expense, a permanent resident visa when the unpleasantness is all over, plus access to all social services provided to legal resident aliens. Or what?

Isn’t there some law, or shouldn’t there be a law, that an attack such as happened to the USS Cole is an act of war? By attacking our military, isn’t that an act of war?

I know the Supreme Court is against military justice for these guys. It just seems like common sense that enemy combatants who have attacked us should be handled separately, and not have the same legal status as DUI and contract law cases.

Yep they will seek the death penalty, but maybe the Supreme Court will rule that the death penalty cannot be used for this sort of act. We learned that repeated child rape and defilement of a child is not a capital crime, so it’s possible that an attack on our military will also be ruled ineligible for the death penalty.

I heard part of the opening proceedings broadcast on Fox News and yes, the death penalty is being sought for this Islamoscum.

All I can say is - it’s about damn time.

Thanks for posting this.
