This pdf document explains DC's revised firearms registration rules given the D.C. vs. Heller ruling by SCOTUS. Take note that residents will now be allowed to register revolvers - but not "semi-automatic pistol".

DC's "government" has been and remains despicable.

What they're doing is illegal and they don't care. Time to haul them back into court.

Apparently they didn’t understand the part of the SCOTUS decision that says “no banning a class of arm that is in common use”.
This isn’t going to go over well with SCOTUS OR the Circuit Court.

Apparently, whatever taxpayers live there do not mind paying millions for the next round in court.
Personally, I look forward to it.

Also... isn’t Heller’s “issue” weapon a “semi-auto pistol”??

Aren’t most pistols semi-automatic?

Do we need more written tests as conditions precedent to the exercise of Constitutional rights ? That sounds familiar , and BTW racist .

It flies in the face of the court decision, and any person should simply ignore the requirements that it be a revolver. If they wish to confiscate it, they’ll need a court order, which no sane judge will issue unless they want their name splashed across the national papers as the moron who got slapped down by the court.

Also unfair to the poor $48.00 to register one gun? Then $13.00 for each additional one. Also you can't even have the gun outside your home? So do I have to lock the gun or break it down to go to a shooting range or to the gunsmith?

Arent most pistols semi-automatic?All of them are.
At least in the meantime, DC residents can get a revolver.

The courts said a poll tax and written test were unconstitutional as it restricted a guaranteed right. The same is true for gun ownership.

Revolvers are semi-automatic, it's just that they aren't gas operated.
I saw a demo by a professional marksman {I think on the History Channel} and he hit six targets with a revolver in less than 4 seconds.
You might shoot a little faster with a gas operated semi, but I'd like to see the accuracy rate.

It would be interesting if these new firearms rules limiting registrations to revolvers but not allowing semi-auto handguns, had the unintended consequence of spurring the gun manufactures to make 15-round capacity revolvers...chuckle...a bet Mayor Fenty would have a heart attack.
