Mayor Fenty just said, live on Fox News Channel, that although DC citizens can keep guns in their homes and they will start allowing people to register/license, that "semi-automatic handguns will still be illegal" in DC!
Doesn't that directly contravene this morning's ruling? Is he spitting in the face of SCOTUS already??

Lets do the same with the first amendment too. Single speeches are protected but not multiple political speeches.
He probably doesn’t even know what the hell a semi automatic weapon is, and doesn’t even know what in the hell SCOTUS ruled today.
Yep. The Man’s rules don’t apply in Chocolate City North. Remember, this is a city that still thinks Marion Barry is the best mayor they ever had.

He probably thinks you don't have to use the clutch or move the gear lever when shooting.
Thompson Contender single shot
Yes, but now the lower courts will have to follow the great Justice Scalia.
It will not be going back to the Supreme Court.
And I now and forevermore can only write this justice’s name with the word great in front of it.
His majority opinion will be worthy of savoring. Every word of its sixty pages!
I see more court cases.
He’s a moron. He doesn’t know the difference between automatic and semi auto and my guess is he’s never sent a round down range in his life.
Firearms training should be a requirement for holding public office.
The fool doesn’t even know what a “semi-automatic” weapon is. If you pull the trigger, the gun fires one round. If you pull the trigger again, the gun fires again. Under this definition, a revolver is “semi-automatic” and therefor, in HIS eyes, a banned weapon. Gonna have to eat a lot of crow to live this one down. Somebody needs to get rid of this fool. Yes, I know that “semi-automatic” refers to the operation of the weapon not requiring operator action to chamber a round in prep for the next firing. So?
We also recognize another important limitation on the right to keep and carry arms. Miller said, as we have explained, that the sorts of weapons protected were those in common use at the time. 307 U. S., at 179. We think that limitation is fairly supported by the historical tradition of prohibiting the carrying of dangerous and unusual weapons.Just about any handgun is semi-automatic, revolvers included, when you define semi-automatic as removing the need to physically operate a bolt-type mechanism between trigger pulls.
That can be operated by fanning. Definitely scary and probably more dangerous to the shooter than to anybody else.
Sounds like Fenty needs to go to jail for breaking the law.
Oh boy, is this gonna be a ride. There are plenty of laws to challenge.
Sorry, Mayor - semi-auto handguns are commonly held arms.
Looks like the control freaks are losing what’s left of their tiny little minds.
Revolvers are still made in pretty good numbers.
I think you hit the nail on the head...
LOL. The again, being a typical elitist liberal, he probably owns a bicycle and has a chauffeured limo.
I'm quite certain that he intends to ban automatic weapons (machine pistols, for example). On the other hand, he might really be as stupid as he sounds - we shall see.
The issue will be the city’s definition of “semi-automatic.” They’ll not care a bit about anyone else’s.
Kinda reminds me of the executive at the corporation I worked at a few jobs back, who in response to an issue of someone downloading porn, emailed the entire company (5000+, international), that outside teams would be hired to search every single computer in person to remove all .jpgs, .bmps, and every other image file. Of course no such teams ever arrived, but a retraction email was not sent either. What I would have given to be a fly on the wall when his ignorance was explained to him.
