I was away for an afternoon of lunch and shooting at a gun range with a friend. It was fun, and I hit the target exactly where I was supposed to. The only thing I didn't like: they make you wait a second or two between shots.
In case you were wondering, I used a 9mm Glock 19 model. Read analysis of the Glock 19.

If anyone yells "NO RAPID FIRE" when I'm protecting my home.... I'm going to assume it's not the range master.

She needs to find
IPSC in her area.

I’ve got a Glock. Nice gun. I prefer the Walther PPK for carrying, easier to conceal. Pistol-gripped shotgun for home defense.
Got a couple of “playtime” guns with no practical use whatsoever — Desert Eagle, 44 Magnum, and a muzzle-loading musket. Fun to shoot ... but a little unwieldy. Desert Eagle’s just too big. 44’ll knock you over. Particularly the musket, though ... nice big plume of smoke and a loud noise. Can’t hit anything, though.

There's a YouTube video linked on the site to a Glock being fired under water. I thought this was “usually” dangerous because of the stress put on a barrel by having to force water from the barrel by the fired projectile. Will the Colt 1911 do this? Also, what's the effective range of .45ACP fired from a Glock under water? I wouldn't think more than a couple of feet. I figured you'd know. :-)

A woman needs a gun with plenty of stopping power but not too much kickback. Its all a matter of testin' em on the gun range before finding the right weapon.

I always thought she was the most beautiful of the nonsensical Charlie's Angles.
I wonder if anyone remembers her running in a relay race between various movie stars, you know the one with Howard Cosell? She must have beat the rest by 60 yards.
Does she shoot handguns in real life?

Now that's a revolver. I was watching an old murder mystery movie from the late 40s and the murder weapon was a 32 cal. automatic pistol and through the whole movie they kept calling it a revolver. I had to laugh out loud as the Liberal in those days didn't know any more than the liberals of today.

She won’t get it with a 19. She needs something that shoots a round with a .4.. in it not a 9MM.

I sure like my 19. Nice little dependable piece, might be a bit thick for some ladies’ hands but very handy for most people. One nice thing about the Glock is that as you train and become recoil-tolerant you can step up to the next caliber in what is essentially the same form factor.

I love the Glock .23. light weight small gun, great stopping power. Too bad my ex. got it in the divorce.

What the Frack is that funky revolver with the barrel mounted so that the firing cylinder is on the bottom. Weird!
