YOU CAN'T FUEL ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME
June 25, 2008
Liberals dismiss studies that show a link between abortion and breast cancer, claiming they are biased because the people promoting the studies are "anti-choice."
For the same reason, no one should believe the Democrats' "energy" policies.
Democrats couldn't care less about high gas prices. The consistent policy of the Democratic Party, going back at least to Jimmy Carter, has been to jack up gas prices so we can all start pedaling around on tricycles.
Environmentalists are constantly clamoring for higher gas taxes as the cure-all to their insane global warming theory. Clinton proposed a 26-cent tax on gas. John Kerry said it should be 50 cents. Gore endorsed the Malthusian proposal of Paul and Anne Ehrlich in "The Population Explosion" that gas taxes be raised gradually to match prices in Europe and Japan.
The result is consumers now pay about 46 cents per gallon in gasoline taxes. That's not including taxes paid directly to the government by the oil companies and passed onto consumers. As the inestimable economist John Lott has pointed out, in the past 25 years oil companies have paid more than three times in taxes what they have made in profits.
B. Hussein Obama's response to soaring gas prices is to have the oil companies collect even more money from us at the pump, proposing a "windfall profits tax" on oil companies. "Corporate taxes" sound like taxes on rich people, but all they do is force corporations to collect taxes on behalf of the government.

Drilling on only 0.01 percent of ANWR's 19 million acres was projected to produce about 10 billion barrels of oil. From all domestic sources combined, we currently produce about 1.8 billion barrels of oil per year. To a layperson like myself, 10 billion barrels seems like a lot of oil.Read the rest at AnnCoulter.Com
Ann’s Column is up and drilling and pumping!
Fresh air !
BUMP!!!!
“To a layperson like myself, 10 billion barrels seems like a lot of oil.”
It’s is a HUGE amount of oil and dollars that would stay here.
140.00+ times 10 billion.
spot on, as usual from Coulter.. hilarious and maddening all at once.
Coulter nails it here.
There is much more than they originally thought.
2.3 square miles of really desolate cold (-20 degrees) land.
About as big as a postage stamp on a football field is all is designated for drilling and pumping.
Six long years ago President Bush had the foresight to demand that Congress allow drilling in a minuscule portion of the Alaska's barren, uninhabitable Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR). In 2002, Bush, Tom DeLay and the entire Republican Party were screaming from the rooftops: Drill! Drill! Drill!
We'd be gushing oil now -- except the Democrats stopped us from drilling.
:>)
Hay Joe, nice to see you around
Dude! Don’t mention Ann, drilling, and pumping in the same sentence...I’m at work!
How true. Even our side needs to have someone who will take a stick and poke them once in awhile.
Sometimes you just got to get in there and duke it out with them.
The concept of “Supply and demand” becomes inconsequential as well. Prices rise and shortages happen not because demand outstrips supply, but because of course an evil conspiracy of the oil industry. So of course it also makes complete sense when they say “We can't drill our way out of this problem,” and that higher taxes would fix high fuel prices.......
The liberal has his own school of mathematics. To the liberal a candidate that promises to end a war costing 100 Billion a year and promising 870 Billion a year more in government cheese can balance a budget. When they talk of casualties in Iraq, of course all those that died from accidents or disease (1/3) are included. Likewise when they talk of the uninsured, every veteran such as I, and even active duty service member (They technically don't have an insurance even though they have 100% coverage through the military) as well as 12 million illegals are rolled into the figure. Anything to make the number as big as possible!
Now, when talking about drilling in ANWR suddenly 3 percent more in the GLOBAL oil supply is "insignificant." And of course that not counting off shore drilling either. Then suddenly it will take a decade to get this oil into supply, bla bla bla.
You know, as a layperson the way some people throw around numbers sure seems suspect.

The Dem talking points are: 1. You cant drill your way out of this crises
Love the liberal logic of that one. It's like saying you can't eat your way out of starvation.
Hmmmm... You think Ann reads Free Republic?
She does read FR. When JimRob was sick Ann sent him a vase of roses.
