Republican voters in Utah ousted Rep. Chris Cannon in Tuesdays GOP primary, expressing their dissatisfaction with the six-term congressman over his left-of-center positions on immigration by nominating a challenger who made crackdowns on illegal immigration a central part of his platform.
Cannon was trounced by Jason Chaffetz, the former chief of staff to Gov. Jon Huntsman (R-Utah.) With 93 percent of precincts reporting, Cannon trails Chaffetz by 20 points 60 to 40 percent. The AP has called the race for Chaffetz.

But but but, how can this be???? I thought conservatism was dead...I mean didn’t the selection of McCain by Republican primary voters prove conservatism was dead??? /sarc

On your idiotic comment: Their positions are miles apart.
On the GREAT news in the article: Thank God that some Republicans SOMEWHERE are starting to take notice and keep their party from falling apart.

Wonder what Johnny will tell LaRazza in July? That he is tough on illegal immigration?...Not....
Whoa! Results like this should scare the hell out of the open borders Republicans. Paging John McCain.
Since I’ve left the Republican party and am an Independent and won’t give any money to the GOP, I’d still like to support conservative R’s like this guy. Does anyone know of a central web site that you can go to specifically to support conservative candidates financially, that go directly to the candidate? Thanks.
GulfBreeze ... "On your idiotic comment: Their positions are miles apart."
Do please explain that one for we little people, will you?
Right here is proof that “we the people” did not really “choose” McCain, he was manipulated in to where he is today. The original pick was Rooty, he tanked, so McCain was reborn to make sure an open borders shill was the only choice we would have.
I did not fail to take notice in the primaries that tough on the borders conservatives were ignored and treated like dirt. On Purpose!
Very, very cool. Wish this would’ve happened to Graham of S.C..
McCain: Open borders. No Troops.
Obama: Open borders. No Troops.
McCain: Pro-Amnesty.
Obama: Pro-Amnesty...
Yeah... Miles. Sure thing...
Me too. Maybe, though, if it starts to happen to others, perhaps those who do not get ousted will begin to take notice?
RINO hunting season is in!!!! Bag limit, none. 1 down.
Good start, I’d say. We need more such incidents.
Yeah for real conservatism. Just say no to RINOs. Wonder how the MSM will spin this being as they constantly harp that strong polices on immigration in general and illegal immigration specifically are losers.
