AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, June 23 (UPI) -- Thousands of people in the Netherlands say they expect the world to end in 2012, and many say they are taking precautions to prepare for the apocalypse.
The Dutch-language de Volkskrant newspaper said it spoke to thousands of believers in the impending end of civilization, and while theories on the supposed catastrophe varied, most tied the 2012 date to the end of the Mayan calendar, Radio Netherlands reported Monday.

I don't like it here anymore. Take immigration, for example. They keep letting people in. And then we have to build more houses, which makes the Netherlands even heavier. The country will sink even lower, which will make the flooding worse."

The only “precaution” we can take for the end of Earth is to find a practicle, foolproof technology for permanent residence in space.

We’ve only just started the hysteria that will be 2012. Apparently, many ancient systems point to that date, or thereabouts. BTW, all those systems point to big, civilization shaking changes, not “the end” of the world.
However, the Y2K fiasco left me worn out. My guess is we will see plenty of trouble coming before 2012, if that’s the date.

Or, maybe just accept Christ, repent, and be saved. The easy way.

Wouldn’t it be God’s decision for the world to end? He must know it’s going to happen, doesn’t He?

big, civilization shaking changes, not the end of the world. If Obama is elected it wont take that long.
2012 would be the end of his first term by the way.

Or, maybe just accept Christ, repent, and be saved. The easy way. Sometimes the obvious answer is the last place we check.
We have our own ideas.
We heard a new theory.
We follow that 'guru', or the next one...
But ultimately there is only one Truth, and only one Way.
'Boring', perhaps (to the ear that wants to be tickled by man's latest ideas), but just as the way it always was:
Repentance and complete reliance and dependence on the the Grace and the Finished and Saving work of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Elaine: According to my source, the end of the world will be on February 14th, in the year two thousand and sixteen.
Peter Venkman: Valentine's day. Bummer. Where'd you get your date, Elaine?
Elaine: I recieved this information from an alien. I was sitting at the bar, alone and this alien approached me. He started talking to me, he bought me a drink. And then he must have used some kind of a ray or a mind control device because he forced me to follow him to his room and that's where he told me about the end of the world.
Peter Venkman: So your alien had a room at the Holiday Inn, Paramis?
Elaine: It could have been a room on the spaceship made to look like the hotel. I can't be sure about that, Peter.

There are those who believe that something BIG is going to happen in 2012.
The big event is not the end of the world, but in the way we humans perceive our place in the universe.
The theory goes like this:
(1) Alien beings from another planet arrive on Earth in 2012 and make their presence known to everyone
or
(2) The aliens have been secretly here all along, and their presence on Earth is exposed.....probably by the aliens themselves.....in 2012.
As for me, I have no idea what, if anything, is going to happen. The way the world is going, I’m wondering if any of us will be here to witness the alleged events of 2012.
Another theory: The Biblical Rapture will happen in 2012.....the start of the End Times.
