James Hansen, one of the world's leading climate scientists, will today call for the chief executives of large fossil fuel companies to be put on trial for high crimes against humanity and nature, accusing them of actively spreading doubt about global warming in the same way that tobacco companies blurred the links between smoking and cancer.
Hansen will use the symbolically charged 20th anniversary of his groundbreaking speech (pdf) to the US Congress - in which he was among the first to sound the alarm over the reality of global warming - to argue that radical steps need to be taken immediately if the "perfect storm" of irreversible climate change is not to become inevitable.
Speaking before Congress again, he will accuse the chief executive officers of companies such as ExxonMobil and Peabody Energy of being fully aware of the disinformation about climate change they are spreading.

I smell a hustle for some cash...and a major Media Whore opportunity.
Hansen is a soros funded liberal mental midget.
I want to know what this phuckwit Hansen has been smoking, snorting or injecting. ‘Crimes against humanity’?
Drag his ass to Auschwitz if he wants to see some REAL ‘crimes against humanity’. Let him look around inside one of those damn ovens and then come out and talk about ‘global warming’.
I sense “Atlas Shrugged” will soon become a reality.
PUT HANSEN IN JAIL FOR WIRE FRAUD, CONSPYRACY, SEDITION, AND ANYTHING ELSE THAT APPLIES.
Is this turd still on the government payroll? He’s nothing but a publicity hound!
I already have a JOHN GALT ‘08 bumper sticker. I’ll keep it on for the duration.
Can anyone photoShop a photo of Hansen jumping a shark?
Dems are always first in line to suppress free speech.
Honestly, Petroleum has been responsible for the rapidest progress of mankind in history.
Hansen should see what kind of scientific progress he can make sitting naked in a cave.
What a maroon!
Garsh...it wernt nothin’ ;)
Oil Derangement Syndrome?
Let’s put him on trial.
Where can I get one? Thanks
As a United states citizen I am embarrassed to say that I help pay people to listen to this imbecile.
I guess as long as they are listening to him they won't be screwing something else up.
