I actually thought he looked a bit like Mel Gibson, of course more so in his younger years.
Like voting? Something like "You go ahead and vote while I stay home and masturbate. At least I'll get something out of it in the end." I don't agree, but it's still funny.
Was shocked at the headline especially by reading two of his books which had him stating, plenty of times, that swimming in raw sewage would make him outlast everyone of his peers. I actually thought that he was older than 71.
Agreed with your commentary, Andy. What I read in his books(Napalm and Silly Putty, and Brain Droppings when I was a lot younger) smacked me of somebody fascinated with word-play. He was grumpy and bitter at how our culture has changed, and I find his political views to not be that good, but if you look at the dozens of word-play examples it is obvious that this guy was born to entertain. In a way he was a much more vulgar, much more Liberal Dennis Miller.
RIP, Carlin. Here’s hoping that you can entertain somebody in your afterlife.
I thought something along what you wrote too. Carlin was so anti-God, how WOULD he react if he was in God’s presence? It’s like the old Steve Martin routine where he dies, wakes up in heaven and says:”In college we thought this was all bull$hit”.
I think alot of what he did was to shock people and/or make them think.
He really was philosophical in alot of ways.
And there have been times when I’ve questioned that Invisible Man in the sky. It comes down to belief, but I think we have all questioned some of the things he has.
I saw Jerry Seinfeld in Vegas in February, and he TOTALLY ripped off this rant about “stuff”.... never gave any credit to the man who wrote it.

Murder. The Fifth Commandment. But, if you give it a little thought, you realize that religion has never really had a problem with murder. Not really. More people have been killed in the name of God than for any other reason.
To cite a few examples, just think about Irish history, the Middle East, the Crusades, the Inquisition, our own abortion-doctor killings and, yes, the World Trade Center to see how seriously religious people take Thou Shalt Not Kill. Apparently, to religious folks - especially the truly devout-murder is negotiable. It just depends on who's doing the killing and who's getting killed.
Right or wrong, he didn't make me change my mind about God, but he did give me a few laughs when I needed them.

RIP Mr. Carlin, we'll miss your “Take-Offs and Put-Ons”
He never recovered after losing his wife, whom he adored. He hated God after that and wasn’t afraid to curse God and mock Christianity. I was driving today, and heard a few of his sketches on XM radio...his hatred towards Christians was breathtaking.
My sentiments exactly. Funny guy, lousy politics.
Don't count on either.
He was one of the great ones. May he rest in peace.

I’m sort of with you. When I was young and rebellious I thought he was funny. But gradually, it wore off on me. Some of his stuff was still funny, but most just crossed the line - even if he comedic enough to make it seem funny. His attacks on religion, God, and people who believe in God were way past humane - and outright evil. He mocked God and those who worshippped God.
Life is more important than a couple of good jokes. In his later years he was just a miserable lout, seeing no beauty at all in any aspect of life. I feel sorry for him as a human being and think his afterlife will be far worse.
On another blog Carlin is quoted as saying that if he saw a crying starving baby and a crying cat he would help the cat. That does not seem like much of a man to me. I thought Carlin was alot more creative than alot of comedians you see nowadays. The last time I remember seeing him was maybe a year or so ago when he was on Jay Leno. If I’m not mistaken I believe Ann Coulter and George Carlin were on the same show. His baseball/football routine was amusing. I agree with some who have said his death is actually kind of a sad thing. He did not believe in God so he really has nothing to look forward too and that’s too bad. Condolences to his friends and family.
