George Carlin reported dead from heart failure.
Fixed.
Jerk.
This is quite funny AND ironic... You are calling me (who, as a fan of his earlier work, and who just recently listened to his copy of FM&AM on vinyl) a 'jerk' for doing exactly what Carlin did! He was viruently anti-God, and I was razzing him for it. And you are offended by my 'tasteless' attempt at humor!!!
You know what? I will say to you what Carlin would say to someone offended by his 'tasteless' jokes: (As I blow smoke in your face) "Kiss. My. ASS!!!"
No big deal. “Life is worth losing.”
You guys who are fans of comedians who made their living acting cynical, ascerbic, grumpy and shocking... you criticize someone for making a joke about them?
I didn't just come on here and say something like "I don't like him." or "I never thought he was funny." No one cares what those pudpullers have to say. I'm a fan of his who made a comment about him, in a similar way he might have.
I made a joke, one that would be quite funny and 'biting' in the hands of a talented comedian with stage presence.
Carlin and the comedians you listed earlier lived pushing other people's buttons. Don't get mad when someone else pushes back, whatever their motivation.
Here are your words:
S**t P**s F*** C*** C*********r M*********r T**s

Rock on.
I forgot that one...
And you know he was usually right about alot of his observations. Not the God stuff, I don’t believe, but most.
It is hard to RIP when you have to face a God you did not believe.
He was one of the comedians I remember growing up with. He turned bitter after his wife died.

You are right, alot of people do.
Don’t let the idiots get to you man, Carlin was funny, period. I don’t care how high and mighty they are about this man, there is SOMETHING he said SOMEWHERE that made them snicker into their hand. Whether they admit it or not.
I don’t care for Howard Stern, but I have to admit laughing sometimes when I’m ashamed I’m laughing.
AKA: “Al Sleet” “It’s 6 PM in New York, It’s 5 PM in Chicago, It’s 3 PM in Los Angeles, In Baltimore it’s 4:15”
Also: “Your thing’s your $h*t; whatever drink, smoke, snort, or shove up you a$$; that’s your $h*t. Don’t like that $h*t, don’t want that $h*t, get that $h*t outta here! Whatta think I am a $h*thead or something?”
Funny is Funny - regardless of your politics.
RIP George, and please know; You brought a lot of laughs to a lot of people. And that’s good.
I always cringed during some of his stand up routines, expecting a lightning bolt any minute.
“When I was young, a fag was someone who would not go into town with you to beat up queers.”
Still laugh when I remember him saying this...
Love him or hate him, the guy became part of American culture.
RIP
Sad. The last time I saw him, he had gone from biting humor to bitter old man. Just not funny anymore.
RIP, George. You had a unique gift that was too often perverted by hate. I hope you had time to make peace with God.
I think we should all be a little careful (actually a lot careful) assuming either way where George Carlin is in the hereafter. Carlin’s death has certainly brought out the worst in people here on this thread. His early and middle career was brilliant, but later in life he was a bitter (and just plain hateful) old man. He was actually at his worst (comically) when he was political. He simply wasn’t funny at those times and ended up coming off like a kook. That being said, I’ll pray for the repose of his soul (and for peace to be with his family).
I believe you are right.
And I wish I had been alive then.
My kids LOVE George Carlin, and I sort of adopted some of my parenting style AFTER him.
I always understood what he meant about the curse words and how could a WORD be evil?
Therefore when my children were born and started to talk, I would scold not for saying a “BAD” word, because “There are no such thing as ‘bad’ words”, but saying a “Grown up word”. This also got me out of the doghouse if I got caught saying a “Bad” word, cause it’s not bad, it’s grown up and I’m a grown up.
This is the truth, George Carlin affected my parenting and I don’t think I realized it until now.
My kids love him too, he was the voice in Tarzan II of the elder ape. He also had a little calendar with sayings on them and we would tear each one off each day to see the funny new thing he said. That one wasn’t vulgar, save for the occassional curse word, no biggie. That was the thing, he wasn’t really VULGAR with the exception of pushing boundaries of society. Not nasty or anything.
He was kinda handsome back then, in a Hippy Dippy way.
Although he wasn’t an ugly old man for that matter.
