On June 3, just a few weeks after the California Supreme Court legalized same-sex marriage, San Francisco Catholic Charities-CYO held its 2008 Red House Fundraiser.
[[SachetMiller062208.jpg]]According to the Catholic Charities-CYO web site, the annual event has been held since 2004. This years fundraiser, reports the site, was held in the heart of the Castro.
The co-chairs of the event and the honorary committee members were a Whos Who of same-sex marriage supporters.
They included:
Nanette Lee Miller, treasurer of CCCYO, who married another woman in 2004, yet still serves on CCCYOs board.
San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom, who said of the courts decision: By the way, as California goes, so goes the rest of the nation this is the future and it is now.
San Francisco County Supervisor Bevan Dufty, who said: "I think it is a win for justice and a win for California and a win for the future.
Rebecca Rolph, executive director of the San Francisco LGBT Center, who said: "This is the best day of my professional life.
[[CahillDufty062208.jpg]]Donna Sachet, a transvestite and member of the board of Equality California, was also an honorary committee member, and was in attendance. Equality California was one of the plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case that brought about legal same-sex marriage in California.
There is nothing hidden about any of this. The CCCYO web site has a picture of their executive director, Brian Cahill, posing with his arm around Supervisor Dufty. The site also has a picture of CCCYO treasurer Nanette Miller posing with Equality California board member Sachet.
We could say. Whats the big deal, they have the right to do this, except for one thing: the Archdiocese of San Francisco mandates that every one of its parishes hold a special annual second collection to support this organization.
In April, I said that the Archdiocese of San Francisco must either radically change CCCYO, or sever ties with the organization. Within two months of that writing, CCCYO has honored Mr. George Marcus and Levi Strauss Inc., both gigantic funders of the culture of death. It has hosted the event described above, which makes a mockery of Church teaching on marriage. Asking the parishioners to support CCCYO is to ask them to subsidize sin.
Note the word “active”. The gay priest that molested all those kids seemed pretty active to me.
Kellynla was trying to point out that true pedophilia is no more common (in fact, it is less so) among Catholic priests than among the general population. The problem is gay priests.
Technically, seminaries were not supposed to take gay candidates, but they did, under the influence of liberal psycho-babble nonsense after Vatican II, where the concept of “sin” totally disappeared. The specific ban on accepting gay candidates to the priesthood was recently reaffirmed. But there’s a large backlog of gay seminary instructors, gay lay directors, liberal pro-gay nuns who teach in these places, etc., and it will probably be awhile before the situation is entirely resolved. The problem lies with bishops who are bad or weak and have been in place for decades now. Personally, I think it’s time a few bishops were held accountable.
But it is not the policy of the Church to accept gay seminarians, ordain gay men to the clergy, or let gays carry on the “gay lifestyle” in any capacity in the clergy.
“You can spin it any way you like, but the Catholic church accepted gay priests into the church?”
“spin?”
Well if Christ “accepts” ALL sinners, then I guess you can call it “spin”...newbie.
“The last time I looked teenagers were boys”
there is a difference in child molestation and homosexuality, genius...
gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...what was your screen name before you changed in in 2007...”bigot”?
“Somehow that is better?”
noooooooooooooooooooo...not better but the overwhelming problem was homosexuality not child molestation...
Let us all know when you get it!
gezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
FYI, there are MILLIONS more practicing Catholics and other conservatives in CA than any other state in the Union.
Slightly off topic (yet pertinent), notice how Californians don't go on the tornado, hurricane, flood or other disaster threads wishing people die or their state fall off into the ocean. Meanwhile those self styled "good" people elsewhere can't resist coming onto our threads to do so.
Just something I've noticed. The bad Californians have more manners and class than our detractors.
No, the problem was two fold. The HUGE problem was priests molesting and preying upon boys and girls. Be the children in elementary or high school is irrelevent. The priests were child molesters and belonged in the criminal justice system.
The second problem was gay priests who did not keep their vow of celibacy. Somehow they thought it did not apply to them because they were gay. They were and are wrong. They should be celibate just like the straight priests. The gay priests who break their vow of celibacy are a scandal to the Church. I have witnessed gay parties in rectories complete with marijuana in the late 1970’s. Scandalous and very, very wrong.
Would that it were so.
“I guess we shouldn’t be surprised but is time for Pope Benedict to “throw the hammer down!”
Absolutely.
Renegade bishops on the prowl again.
Yes, my funny does have a desired result. Interesting how that what becomes fashionable in California just like the weather seems to float in my direction in flyover country. But hey I am no expert just observing what weather patterns create. Course I did not realize this was a disaster thread and comments were to be confined to specific geographical location, location, location. Oh well I do believe in miracles and it does seem time is growing closer to a big one. So it may well be that the perversion sprouted on the left coast is dumped deep in the West waters.
where it will have to contend with sharks with laser beams.
just grinds slowly, but...
justice, i mean.
If Catholics voted like Southern Baptists, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania would be as solidly Republican in presidential elections as Alabama.
Gay Lesbian Straight Education Network (GLSEN) is a national organization of activist teachers that strategize ways to surreptitiously normalize homosexuality in curricula that has nothing to do with sex education and which pioneered the "Gay Straight Alliance" clubs.
After discovering that Levi Strauss was the highest-profile sponsor of GLSEN, I vowed never to wear another pair of Levi's or Dockers. My posterior will not be a billboard for the Gay-stapo.
Kelly I hope the Pope go medievel on somebody a** soon
Romans 1 says God “gave them up to” homosexuality after replacing Him with rationalizations and a kind of idolatry or atheism. It reads like it was meted out as a punishment, not the reason for His displeasure.
At least you admit to being a Catholic basher.
